Cookies & Local Storage
A draft explanation of the browser storage and third-party requests used by Today C-News, pending legal review.
Last updated 2026-10-05
This page is a draft pending legal review and may change before the site is finalised.
Our approach
Today C-News is a static site without accounts, comments, payments, analytics or advertising trackers. We do not set cookies ourselves to identify or follow readers. What we do use is localStorage, a small storage area inside your browser.
What we store in localStorage
- Saved articles: the items you choose to save so you can find them again on the same device and browser.
- Theme preference: whether you prefer a light or dark appearance.
- Newsletter interest: a note that you used the Morning Espresso sign-up. The newsletter is planned for 7:00 AM ET on weekdays and is not sending yet.
This data lives only in your browser. We do not receive it automatically, and it does not sync between devices.
Newsletter sign-up and email
Using the sign-up opens a draft email to [email protected]. Nothing reaches us unless you send that draft.
Third-party requests
Pages load resources from outside providers:
- Google Fonts for typefaces
- The Tailwind CDN for styling
- googleusercontent.com for images
These requests are made by your browser and can reveal your IP address and basic browser details to those providers. They may also use their own cookies or caching under their own policies. We do not control that, and we encourage you to review their documentation.
Managing your data
- Clear site data in your browser settings to delete saved articles, theme and newsletter records.
- Use private browsing so that localStorage is discarded when you close the window.
- Use a content blocker if you prefer to stop third-party requests. The site may look different without fonts or images.
Clearing storage resets your saved articles and theme, so you may want to note anything you wish to keep.
Why there is no consent banner
Because we do not use analytics or advertising trackers and store only what you ask us to keep, we have not added a consent banner. This position is under legal review, and we will change it if advice requires.
Changes and questions
If we ever add analytics, advertising or other tracking, we will update this page and the Privacy Policy first. Questions can go to [email protected].
