The crash is under investigation in Spain.

As the soccer world mourns the death of Liverpool and Portugal star Diogo Jota, authorities continue investigating the cause of the deadly car crash in Spain early on July 3.
Jota’s brother, André Silva, also a professional soccer player, was also killed in the wreck.
A source close to the sub-delegate of the Spanish government in Zamora revealed the crash is being investigated as “a possible speeding incident,” according to CNN, citing the UK’s PA News Agency.
The crash occurred around 12:30 a.m. local time in Zamora, a city in northwestern Spain. Mundo America reported that the Lamborghini is expected to be a Huracán model, “according to the only recognizable feature after the accident: the rims.”
Authorities told CNN the incident was caused by a “burst tire while overtaking.” The vehicle that Jota and his brother were in left the road and subsequently caught fire, officials said.

It is not known which brother was driving the Lamborghini that the brothers were traveling in.
“At this moment in time it is impossible to say at exactly what speed the car was going but that is something the Civil Guard investigators will be able to detail at least approximately in their final report from things like the skid marks,” a spokesperson for the Civil Guard law enforcement agency, which is leading the investigation, told ABC News Australia.
Their remains were moved to the nearby town of Puebla de Sanabria, a source close to the sub-delegate of the Spanish government in Zamora told CNN.
A report in the Portuguese-language site Record said Jota and his wife, Rute Cardoso, attended a friend’s wedding over the weekend.
According to Record, Jota and his brother were heading to Liverpool, “following by car trip to Santander (Spain) from where he would follow by ferry to the south of England and then to Liverpool.”
Jota married his long-term partner, Cardoso, less than two weeks before the crash. The couple has three children.
