Haunting Final Instagram Photo of ‘The Ring’ Star Daveigh Chase Revealed After Her Tragic Death at Just 35

Daveigh Chase shared a haunting final photo on Instagram nearly a decade before her tragic death.

In the black-and-white image, posted on November 19, 2017, she stood beside a unicorn-shaped balloon while enjoying a sunny day outdoors.

The The Ring actress wore a black sheer top paired with distressed black jeans as she posed near a sidewalk sign. She completed the look with simple sunglasses and a long necklace.

“Unicorns DO exist 😻,” Chase captioned the post.

Following news of her death on Wednesday, fans flooded the comments section with heartfelt tributes to the Lilo & Stitch voice actress.

“RIP and thank you,” one fan wrote, while another commented, “Rest peacefully in Paradise 🤍🪽.”

A third added, “Say it ain’t so😭💔,” while a fourth wrote, “RIP beautiful girl, you deserved so much better. Thank you for the nostalgia, your special words and voice that made these characters so memorable in our lives. You left an imprint on all our hearts. God bless you, soar with the angels 💔🕊️.”

Chase rose to fame as the voice of Lilo in Disney’s animated Lilo & Stitch in 2002 and as Chihiro in the English-language version of Hayao Miyazaki’s Oscar-winning animated fantasy Spirited Away in 2001.

She also terrified audiences in 2002 with her portrayal of the vengeful child spirit Samara Morgan in the iconic horror film The Ring. In addition, she appeared in Donnie Darko in 2001.

On Wednesday, it was reported that the actress had died on Tuesday at the age of 35 after suffering from meningitis and a blood infection that led to sepsis, according to her boyfriend, Roy Hernandez.

TMZ reported that Chase had been hospitalized in Los Angeles earlier in June due to malnutrition.

Before her death, Hernandez launched a GoFundMe campaign, describing Chase as “a light in [his] life” and noting that “behind the scenes, she’s faced more than her share of hardship.”

“After a difficult childhood and a painful falling out with her family, Daveigh was bullied and struggled to find safety and happiness in downtown LA,” he wrote on the campaign page.

“When we met, I promised to protect her and give her the love and comfort she deserved. Together, we found moments of happiness and hope.”

Hernandez also revealed that Chase had been diagnosed with several serious blood infections and meningitis.

“Her condition has become critical, and the doctors have told me she may not have much time left,” he wrote. “All she ever wanted was a place where we could live together, feel safe, and be happy. Now, more than ever, I want to give her that sense of home and peace in her final days.”
