Meghan Markle’s family were left outraged after Prince Harry suggested that the royals were ‘the family she never had’ – but her stepmom has a different take on the situation

Meghan Markle’s stepmom has revealed that “distance” is the key factor in Meghan’s estrangement from certain family members.

The drama started when Prince Harry described the Royal Family as “the family she never had” during an interview with BBC Radio 4. Meghan’s half-brother, Thomas Markle Jr., slammed the comment, insisting she “had a really good family” and “got everything she ever wanted”.

Roslyn Markle, who was married to Meghan’s father in the 1960s, shared her perspective on the Duchess’ family feud. Roslyn claimed: “It’s not tension. It’s distance.”

She added: “When Meghan graduated from high school, she went to Northwestern which is up in Illinois. And when she finished that, she worked in Argentina. Then she started Suits and she started her acting career. It was the scenario that everyone got busy, and the distance was always a factor.”

Speaking to Radar Online, Rosyln has insisted that Meghan didn’t “shut out” her family, but confessed that she “didn’t talk too much” with her estranged sister, Samantha Markle. However, Samantha, who previously claimed that Meghan had a “large family” who was “always there for her”, dismissed Rosyln’s claims on social media.

In a series of heated tweets, Samantha said Roslyn was “no relation” of Meghan and accused her of being “crazy” for commenting. She wrote: “FYI I read online said that Roslyn Markle was Meghan’s stepmom LOL my dad divorced Roslyn in 74… she remarried… no relation to Meg ever and she knows nothing about our lives or Meghan!”

In a subsequent tweet, she added: “Roslyn only knows Meg from what she has studied about her in the media LOL.” Meanwhile, a source recently told OK! magazine that Meghan “wants her old life back”, while feeling “frustrated” Harry is “wasting his own life”.

She left her life in Toronto after getting engaged to the Duke of Sussex. However, according to the source, Meghan has discovered the hard way that being a Duchess isn’t all it’s made out to be.

The source claimed: “Meghan has made no secret of how much she misses her care-free life when she was an actress and while she’d never change what she has with Harry and the kids, there is a big part of her that she wishes she could just get her old life back. She loved being in Suits and all the opportunities it gave her, she’d get invited to all the exclusive events and get to hang out with Hollywood A-listers but there was so much less scrutiny and attention and there was no pressure on her.”
