Ryan Reynolds calls out Kevin Feige’s MCU Multiverse failures in Deadpool & Wolverine, by labeling it as a series of misses and failures.

Ryan Reynolds is known for being unapologetically candid, and so is his Merc with a Mouth character, Deadpool. The actor and character has gotten away with saying some of the most brutal and hilariously honest revelations, which is part of the reason why he continues to be loved and adored by millions of fans worldwide.

So in his MCU entry, Reynolds did not hold back when it came to breaking the fourth wall and point out the many shortcomings of the Fox universe and the Marvel Cinematic Universe. But one of his boldest lines was when he called out Kevin Feige’s disastrous multiversal saga of the MCU.

The Marvel Cinematic Universe used to be this big, unstoppable franchise. But doubts about its ‘immortality’ and box office reign became rampant when the MCU kicked off its multiverse saga. First introduced in Doctor Strange, the storyline picked up the pace in the first season of Loki, when one variant of the God of Mischief ended up killing He Who Remains.

While many Marvel movies and projects have fared better than other non-superhero projects, several of them have failed to live up to the hype of the pre-Avengers: Endgame era. Described by critics and fans as too convoluted and difficult to follow through, it is safe to say that the Multiverse Saga has fallen short of the glory that the Infinity Saga received.

So many Marvelholics have been calling for Marvel Studios to abandon the multiverse; Ryan Reynolds, too, had more than a few words to say about it. In his MCU entry, Deadpool & Wolverine, Reynolds’ character Deadpool states to his variants,

Can we just be done?  With the whole multiverse thing?  It’s not great.  It’s just been miss after miss after miss.  The Wizard of Oz did the multiverse first and they did it best!  The gays knew it!  But we didn’t listen.  Let’s just take the ‘L’ and move on.

A brutal jibe at Kevin Feige‘s MCU, the line not only highlights the plight of Marvel fans but has also resonated with them. Even Marvel boss cannot deny that Wade Wilson is right and that Deadpool & Wolverine did the ‘multiverse thingy’ better than most Marvel movies post-Endgame!

Deadpool & Wolverine Continue to Dominate the Box Office

Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman’s delightful MCU entry, Deadpool & Wolverine, has ended up becoming the box-office phenomenon that fans had anticipated it to be. Now the highest-grossing R-rated movie of all time, the film has become one of the highest-grossing movies in the Marvel universe as well as ranks among the highest-grossing movies of all time (via Box Office Mojo).

Currently having a tally of $1.21 billion worldwide, the R-rated flick continues to wreak havoc at the box office. Having completed a month at the box office, the film has dethroned the recently released Alien: Romulus to reclaim the number one spot again on the domestic box office (via Rotten Tomatoes).

Filled with some of the finest cinematic moments in history, thanks to the numerous cameos in the film, it is no wonder why the film continues to dominate. With potentially another month in its lap, the success of the film highlights that despite the ‘multiverse saga mess’ of the MCU, there is still hope after all!
