The Emmy Award winner met film producer Cydney on the set of the 1993 film Sommersby. The pair kept their relationship fairly private at the time, but Jodie gave a subtle shout out to Cydney in a speech during the 2007 The Hollywood Reporter‘s Women in Entertainment event by thanking her “beautiful Cydney who sticks with me through all the rotten and the bliss.”

The couple reportedly split in 2008, and in 2013, when Jodie accepted the Cecil B. Demille Award at the Golden Globes, she addressed her personal life by formally coming out.

On a more serious note, she added, “I already did my coming out about a thousand years ago, back in the Stone Age. In those very quaint days when a fragile young girl would open up to trusted friends and family, coworkers and then gradually, proudly, to everyone who knew her.”
Addressing Cydney at the 2013 Golden Globes, Jodie said, according to People, “I am so proud of our modern family. Our amazing sons, Charlie and Kit, who are my reason to breathe and to evolve.”
