NEWARK, NEW JERSEY – AUGUST 28: Taylor Swift accepts the Video of the Year award (presented by Burger King) for ‘All Too Well (10 Minute Version) (Taylor’s Version)
It appears as though Taylor Swift will not be taking center stage for the Super Bowl 57 halftime show after all.
There was a giant tease that Swift, 32, was going to headline the Super Bowl 57 halftime show, which will take place on Feb. 12. This season’s Super Bowl will be held at State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona.
Citing sources, TMZ reported on Friday that Swift will not actually performing at the Super Bowl. The performer of the show has not been announced yet, though it’s worth noting that the NFL announced the Super Bowl 56 performers on Sept. 30 of last year.
The Weeknd performed the Super Bowl 55 halftime show that took place at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa Bay, Florida on Feb. 7, 2021. The news of The Weeknd performing at the grand stage wasn’t announced until November 2020
The Super Bowl 56 halftime show (at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California) was performed by Dr. Dre, Eminem, Snoop Dogg, Kendrick Lamar and Mary J. Blige, and it featured special guest performances from Anderson .Paak and 50 Cent.
Swift is among the world’s top-selling music artists who has yet to perform at a Super Bowl halftime show (including as a special guest). Swift and The Dave Matthews Band performed at the 2010 NFL Kickoff Game between the New Orleans Saints and Minnesota Vikings at the legendary Jackson Square area in New Orleans.
Super Bowl 57 will be the fourth Super Bowl to take place in the state of Arizona, and the third to be held inside State Farm Stadium. Super Bowl 30 was held in Tempe, with the Dallas Cowboys defeating the Pittsburgh Steelers to become a dynasty.
Super Bowl 42 (in State Farm Stadium) saw the New York Giants upset the previously undefeated New England Patriots in the big dance. Seven years later, the Patriots defeated the Seattle Seahawks in a last-second thriller in the same venue.
