Spider-Man at the end of Spider-Man Far From Home with the Venom horse in Venom The Last Dance's trailer

New fan art promoting Venom: The Last Dance imagines Spider-Man riding the Venom horse seen in the upcoming Sony Spider-Man Universe movie’s first trailer. The June 2024 trailer for Venom: The Last Dance has teased an action-packed story for Tom Hardy’s final solo movie as Eddie Brock, pitting Venom against human and alien villains alike. The jam-packed plot of The Last Dance means it’s unlikely that Spider-Man will appear in the movie, though there may be an opportunity for Venom to cross over into the MCU after his upcoming adventure.

One of the many twists in Venom: The Last Dance’s trailer saw Venom bond with a non-human host, gifting a horse all the powers of the alien symbiote. This scene has been reimagined in new art shared by wens.1998, which adds a black-suited Spider-Man into the mix to create a striking moment that encapsulates the seemingly untapped potential of including the Marvel hero in the movie series.

Spider-Man was speculated to appear in Venom: The Last Dance during the movie’s early development stages, but it seems this is unlikely to come to fruition. Even so, there is still a chance that Venom and Spider-Man could come to blows, should the symbiote find himself back in the MCU proper – though it’s decidedly unlikely a prospective battle would see the webslinger meet a venomized horse.

When Could Spider-Man & Venom Battle In The MCU?

Spider-Man: No Way Home’s mid-credits scene saw Eddie Brock leave a piece of the Venom symbiote in the MCU upon his return to his home reality. The moment provided a great jumping-off point for Venom to join Marvel Studios’ franchise on a permanent basis, and may have teased Venom’s involvement in the MCU’s upcoming Spider-Man 4. This could see Tom Holland’s Spider-Man receive his iconic black costume from Marvel Comics, enhancing him with new abilities in the lead up to Avengers: Secret Wars.

Spider-Man first received his black symbiote costume during Marvel Comics’ Secret Wars event in 1984, so the MCU’s adaptation of Secret Wars would be a fantastic opportunity to show off this alien upgrade. If Holland’s Peter Parker uses the Venom suit to his benefit in Spider-Man 4 and Avengers: Secret Wars, a battle between the legendary adversaries might not take place until Spider-Man 5 or beyond. Since Holland is returning for a new trilogy of Spider-Man movies, this battle could even end in his departure from the role, allowing a new Spider-Man to take his place.

Venom: The Last Dance’s trailer has caused confusion about Venom’s existence in the MCU, as Chiwetel Ejiofor’s character appears to be capturing the piece of the symbiote left after No Way Home. However, this could ultimately turn out to be a ruse, perhaps taking place in the SSU itself, meaning this piece of Venom still remains intact. If Eddie Brock or Venom lose their lives in Venom: The Last Dance, as is suspected, Venom could make the move to the MCU using this symbiote remnant, setting him up to face Spider-Man very soon.
