Catherine O’Hara angry that ‘Home Alone’ director let the McCallisters fall into this homeless poverty situation

Ya filthy animal.

“Schitt’s Creek” actress Catherine O’Hara, 70, has a bone to pick with her former “Home Alone” director.

In December, director Chris Columbus finally addressed the question of how the McCallister parents could afford their lavish home in the 1990 Christmas classic.

“Back then, [screenwriter John Hughes] and I had a conversation about it, and we decided on what the jobs were,” he said during an interview in December with the Hollywood Reporter.

In the movie, Kevin (Macaulay Culkin) placed the mannequins in the window to ward off the criminals Harry (Joe Pesci) and Marv (Daniel Stern).

As for husband Peter McCallister (John Heard), Columbus said, “The father could have, based on John Hughes’ own experience, worked in advertising. But I don’t remember what the father did.”

He ruled out the fan theory that Peter’s activities were on the wrong side of the law.

“Not organized crime,” Columbus added, “even though there was, at the time, a lot of organized crime in Chicago.”

But in an interview this week, O’Hara told Entertainment Weekly, “I hate to disagree with anything Chris Columbus says, but I do with that. Because I look at those mannequins as she’s successful at something, but she also has all these kids and wants to be a great homemaker… At one point, she thought, ‘I’m gonna make all their clothes,’ and that lasted about a week.”

“Home Alone” celebrated its 34th anniversary last year.

Earlier this month, the famous red brick home from the movie sold for $5.5 million.

The Georgian-style property is located in Winnetka, Illinois. It sold for $250,000 over its original asking price of $5.25 million.
