Fans Clash Over Henry Cavill & David Corenswet: Do They Really Look Alike? Some Say Yes, Others Say NO Way! What’s Your Take?

The actor has also been compared to CW’s Superman Tom Wellington.

Fans of actor Henry Cavill seem to disagree that the new Superman of James Gunn’s DCU David Corenswet looks similar to the Man of Steel actor. The fans of the actor are responding to a viral comparison that put the two Supermen as duplicates of each other.

When the casting was announced, many initially drew attention to Corenswet’s looks resembling that of a young Henry Cavill. However, fans of Cavill are now up in arms about the comparisons, saying that the two actors look nothing alike.

Actor Henry Cavill was the foundation of what was then known as the DCEU. He starred as Clark Kent a.k.a Superman in the Zack Snyder directorial Man of Steel. The film paved the way for the Snyderverse, which due to numerous mismanagement from WB, could never reach its full potential.

There was still hope for Cavill’s Superman when he appeared in the post-credits scene of Dwayne Johnson’s Black Adam. WB also announced that work for a Man of Steel sequel was set to begin soon.

However, a few weeks later, Henry Cavill announced that he would be officially departing the role of Superman as the new DC Studios chiefs James Gunn and Peter Saffran told him that there would be no space for his iteration of the character in their new DCU. He announced his exit with a statement on his Instagram,

“I have just had a meeting with James Gunn and Peter Safran and it’s sad news, everyone. I will, after all, not be returning as Superman…After being told by the studio to announce my return back in October, prior to their hire, this news isn’t the easiest, but that’s life.”

James Gunn announced that the new DCU would be a soft reboot and would begin with a younger Superman in his film Superman: Legacy. Shortly after, he announced that actors David Corenswet and Rachel Brosnahan were cast as Superman and Lois Lane in the film.

Fans Disagreed On Similarities Between Henry Cavill And Darvid Corenswet

Right after David Corenswet’s casting as Clark Kent a.k.a Superman in the new DCU, many quickly started comparing his looks to that of Henry Cavill. Both were described by the Daily Mail as having ‘chiseled jawlines, a great head of dark hair and piercing eyes’. Some even went on to criticize the casting, calling Corenswet a cheap, carbon copy of Cavill.

However, recently, fans of Henry Cavill have started to respond to the claims of similarities between the actors. Fans of Cavill have refused to accept that Corenswet looks anything like the Witcher star.

The fans claimed that the majority of the comparison just banked on both being good-looking men, while some claimed that they both just looked like Superman. Some even pointed out that David Corenswet looked more similar to actor Tom Wellington, who played Clark Kent in the CW show Smallville.

David Corenswet seems to have a huge burden on his shoulders. Not only does he have to carry a legacy of more than eight decades, but also has to be distinct enough to avoid comparison from Henry Cavill fans.
