Even Calling Kate Winslet His Favorite On-screen Kiss Couldn’t Win Leonardo DiCaprio The Title of Her Favorite Co-star

Starring in the iconic romantic drama Titanic, Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet became Hollywood’s one of the most beloved on-screen couple. Their strong bond has endured over the years, and they later reunited for the 2008 romantic drama Revolutionary Road.

While they are known to be very good friends, when asked about her favorite co-star in an interview, Winslet left DiCaprio out, despite him previously naming her as his favorite on-screen kiss.

Leonardo DiCaprio Revealed His Favorite On-Screen Kiss

As a rising star and Hollywood heartthrob in the 90s, Leonardo DiCaprio captured millions of hearts as he started gaining recognition for his performances in star-crossed romances like Titanic and Romeo + Juliet.

His performance and the on-screen chemistry with co-stars, from Kate Winslet to Claire Danes, left fans swooning over the actor. So, when he joined Oprah Winfrey on her talk show, one thing that fans were eager to know was who was his favorite leading lady kiss.

After some hesitation, the Oscar winner eventually picked his Titanic co-star, saying, “Oh boy! There’s going to be some mad actresses if I say… I’m just going to go with Kate Winslet, good old classic.”

He continued, “Just because we did it more times than anyone could ever imagine… A lot of times.” While the audience on the show appeared satisfied with the answer, Winslet doesn’t seem to fall for her co-star’s claims.

The Reader star not only dismissed the fact that DiCaprio believed her to be his favorite on-screen kiss, but she also left him off the list when naming her favorite co-star in a later interview.

Kate Winslet recently joined the celebrity couple Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos on their talk show, LIVE with Kelly and Mark, where she revealed Emma Thompson as her favorite co-star.

“My absolute favorite is Emma Thompson,” she said. Winslet and Thompson worked together in the 1995 period drama Sense and Sensibility, where they played the role of sisters, Elinor and Marianne. Talking about her experience working with Thompson, Winslet said,

She’s incredibly important person in my life still today — Emma was absolutely wonderful she made me feel like I’d earned my place at the table and she gave me really great pieces of advice.

The Holiday star continued,

I remember her saying to me post Titanic. She said, “Just remember, it’s equally as important not to work as it is to work because I could feel that she was wanting to just take me under her wing and make sure I felt nurtured and supported — She’s a very special person to me.

As for DiCaprio naming her as the best on-screen kiss, the actress later dismissed the idea, arguing, “I can tell you right now he hated it.” While talking to Extra at the 2005 SAG Awards, the pair opened up about the less-than-glamorous reality.

“What we hated more than anything was I would have a different color base than she did and then our makeup would swap,” DiCaprio admitted. “I would end up with this really unattractive brown-orange color,” Winslet added.

While these behind-the-scenes moments were far from glamorous for the actors, Jack and Rose’s iconic kiss at the front of the Titanic ship remains legendary for fans.
