This past week, Zayn Malik attended the funeral of former One Direction bandmate, Liam Payne, who died suddenly in Argentina on Oct. 16. Malik’s ex-girlfriend, Gigi Hadid, has reportedly “offered her support” to Malik, according to a source speaking with Page Six.
“Gigi reached out to Zayn to offer her condolences after Liam’s passing,” said the insider, adding that Hadid was “there to listen and offered her support if Zayn needed anything at all or just wanted to talk.”
The one-time couple began dating in 2015. They were off-and-on for six years before splitting for good in 2021. They welcomed their daughter, Khai, in 2020.
The insider continued, “Gigi and Zayn have had their ups and downs over the years but they’ve come a long way and are on much better terms. Their main focus is on coparenting Khai and they have been able to get along well.”
The pair are on friendly coparenting terms and even spend time as a unit with Khai, according to the source, sharing her fourth birthday together in September.
“Gigi and Zayn realize that they’re both going to be in each other’s lives and they’re both very mature,” the source shared. “They just want what’s best for their daughter and they’re able to put any differences aside that they’ve had in the past and come together on the same page.”
Since their split, Hadid has gone on to be romantically linked with actor Leonardo DiCaprio, followed by actor Bradley Cooper. Cooper is also a parent, welcoming his daughter Lea De Seine with model Irina Shayk in 2017.
Payne was put to rest on Wednesday, Nov. 20, in England’s Home Counties. Malik was joined at the event by Harry Styles, Niall Horan, and Louis Tomlinson.
