King Thanos Beat The Avengers, Made Hulk His Dog and Enslaved Ghost Rider- But The Mad Titan Didn’t Want to Live This Future in Marvel Comics

King Thanos conquered all of existence, yet he had to bring his younger self from the past to accomplish one thing that he yearned for.

King Thanos is one character who has been long appearing in Marvel discussion groups now. Fans have speculated this far more ruthless version of the Infinity Saga villain is set to appear in Avengers: Secret Wars. King Thanos is the Mad Titan from TRN 666, where he defeated and killed all the Avengers and mastered the Infinity Stones.

King Thanos has annihilated almost all of the life in that universe and keeps the Cosmic Ghost Rider as his right-hand man. He also made the Hulk his personal guard dog. A young Thanos is brought millions of years into the future by Cosmic Ghost Rider at the behest of King Thanos for a unique mission.

Who Is King Thanos And How Is He Different From The Other Thanos Variants?

King Thanos is a variant of the Mad Titan from Universe TRN 666, which was completely destroyed by his conquest. In this universe, he killed all the Avengers and gained the full powers of the Infinity Stones. He made the Hulk into his personal pet, putting him on a leash like a guard dog.

Frank Castle aka The Punisher takes on the Ghost Rider mantle in this universe and serves King Thanos. Together, they have been on a mission to conquer the universe and kill all the life forms. In Marvel Comics edition Thanos #15, King Thanos sends Ghost Rider to his past to bring back a young Thanos.

The young Thanos couldn’t believe his future self until King Thanos revealed a secret known only to them. The young Thanos realized that he get to rule the entire existence as he has defeated every enemy with the exception of Silver Surfer. However, when the Silver Surfer attacked them, the two Thanoses joined forces to eliminate him as well.

However, the young Thanos only comes to know about the real purpose of his visit there when the future Thanos makes a unique request to him. Despite conquering the entire universe, King Thanos yearns for death. This one plot point makes him drastically different from Thanoses of all other universes. His ultimate desire is to join Lady Death, whom he has been obsessing with for a long time.

King Thanos realizes that no one in the world could take him down but a younger version of himself. The two Thanoses engage in one of the fiercest battles in the multiverse.

The Young Thanos Doesn’t Want To Live This Future

The battle between Thanoses is one of the highlights of the Thanos comics in Marvel Comics. During the battle, King Thanos begs for his death with his younger self, which absolutely disgusts him. The young Thanos eventually decides to stop fighting and refuses to budge into his future self’s demands.

Instead, he uses his powers to go back in time and vows to never transform into King Thanos. The younger version’s vow creates a paradox, which causes the TRN 666 timeline to unravel. His decision to never become King Thanos erases the ruthless character and his sidekicks from existence, leaving behind only Lady Death in the future.

If the rumors of King Thanos appearing in Avengers: Secret Wars turn out to be true, fans should be ready to witness some Marvel madness in the film. This version of Mad Titan could potentially encounter powerful characters like Robert Downey Jr.‘s Doctor Doom. The film will hit theaters only on May 7, 2027.
