Meghan Markle made a somber appearance in Manhattan alongside her husband Prince Harry on Wednesday as the famous couple unveiled a very important art installation in connection with their organization The Archewell Foundation.
The duo – who are said to be hoping to reconnect with the royal family – were already in New York City this week for Meghan’s appearance at the TIME100 Summit.
Harry, 40, and Meghan, 43, joined bereaved families at The Lost Screen Memorial, which features 50 illuminated smartphones with pictures of children that have each lost their lives due to the harms of social media.
The reveal of the installation was clearly an emotional moment for Meghan and Harry as they were both moved to tears as they stood to remember each child, and to call for more action and restrictions around social media and online spaces.

Speaking at the unveiling, Harry said: “These children were not sick. Their deaths were not inevitable – they were exposed to, and in many cases were pushed harmful content online, the kind any child could encounter. No child should be exploited, groomed, or preyed upon in digital spaces. To the platforms, they may be seen as statistics. To their families, they were cherished and irreplaceable.
“While social media companies claim to be taking action, most still withhold critical data from grieving parents—data that could provide answers and accountability. This is a growing crisis. Social media is quietly taking our children, and those with the power to make change are failing to act.”
James Holt, Executive Director at Archewell Foundation, told HELLO!: “All the kids featured in The Lost Screen Memorial came from loving homes with parents who spoke to them about social media, there was just nothing they could do. But lawmakers can do something.”
He added: “Everything changed when the Archewell Foundation, Harry and Meghan brought families together. They found power in meeting each other.”
The show of emotion comes just hours after Meghan stepped out alongside husband Prince Harry as she attended the TIME100 Summit, where she was a keynote speaker.

The Duchess of Sussex joined a host of other influential figures at the summit, which aims to “feature leaders from the global TIME community to spotlight solutions and encourage action toward a better world.”
However a body language expert revealed that Meghan’s gestures and stance indicated that she might have felt overwhelmed and shy prior to the event.
Body language expert Judi James has interpreted what Meghan’s shifts in behavior upon her arrival might mean. She explained: “Outside in the street on arrival Meghan’s body language signals are of affected humility and even a little shyness. Both arms are raised and bent at a 45 degree angle but the hands ‘wilt’ here, hanging limply from bent wrists in a display of a lack of strength or power.
“Her head is lowered slightly too and her brows raised, while her smile looks unassuming. The stunning silk suit might be seen as a business option but not on Meghan. The trousers trail onto the ground, creating a trip hazard and a means of collecting dirt in most office blocks.”, reports the Express US.
She added: “Posing for the photos though Meghan adopts a more assured look with one hand in her pocket and a direct, confident stare at the camera. Her smile widens and becomes warmer when the others join her in the pose, particularly Harry who is in a much more authentic-looking sharp business suit. They place their torsos close enough to be touching and he mimics Meghan’s power pose of one hand in the pocket and a confident leg splay.”
