Although Ginny & Georgia‘s third season ended on a massive cliffhanger — who’s the father of Georgia’s (Brianne Howey) baby?! — the good news is that the writers are already hard at work on season 4. And without spoiling anything, showrunner Sarah Glinski offers up a tease about what to expect as the story continues.
“Throughout the season, Ginny’s [Antonia Gentry] gotten to know more about her mom,” Glinski tells Entertainment Weekly. “But does she really know her? In season 4, we dig into Ginny really understanding her mom in a new way. She knows what she’s done, but she doesn’t necessarily understand her. In season 4, she’ll learn to understand her. And part of that is her past coming back into play.”

The past she’s referring to looks a lot like Georgia’s mom and stepfather, both of whom rolled into town in the season’s final moments. (And let’s not forget Georgia’s father calling her from prison.)
But season 4 won’t just be about the past. Series creator Sarah Lampert jumps in with a tease, revealing, “Two characters who you wouldn’t expect share a kiss in season 4. Glinski has been gunning for this kiss. I was like, ‘No, never, over my dead body. They will never.’ Then, the plot unfolded in a way where I was like, ‘It could be kind of good. All right, fine.'”
Although they won’t even so much as hint at the people involved in the kiss, Glinski does add, “I actually find in the writers’ room, at least pitching unexpected pairings, whether it’s for kissing or just for hanging out, can often lead stories in really interesting ways and let us discover new things about our characters. So it’s not just about the kissing.”
Ginny & Georgia season 3 is available now on Netflix. Season 4 does not yet have a release date.
