Reacher fans have just learned when the action-packed drama series will return for its third season. Alan Ritchson, who portrays the title character, has shared when Reacher Season 3 will premiere on Prime Video.
In an Instagram Stories post, Ritchson shared an image that featured the words, “The biggest name in action hits again in 2025,” followed by the title of the series. This seems to confirm that Reacher will not return until next year, which will have been over one year since Season 2 premiered on Prime Video. Production on Season 3 began ahead of the Season 2 premiere last December. It is unclear when production will wrap, although Ritchson was spotted filming the new season as recently as April 2024.
The first season of Reacher was released in its entirety on Feb. 4, 2022, adapting the first Jack Reacher novel, Killing Floor. The second season adapted the eleventh novel, Bad Luck and Trouble, and was released weekly from Dec. 15, 2023, to Jan. 19, 2024. Reacher has been hugely successful for Prime Video, with the action drama series ranking as the #1 title on the streamer across all movies and series worldwide for 2023. Ritchson has also earned near-unanimous praise from fans for his portrayal of the titular drifter/former U.S. Army Military Police Major across both seasons of the action drama series.
Reacher Season 3 Adapts Persuader
Season 3 of Reacher will adapt the fan-favorite novel Persuader, the seventh entry in author Lee Child’s beloved series. Published in 2003, Persuader takes place in Maine, following the title character going undercover to rescue an informant being held by a haunting foe from his past. Maria Sten, who appeared in the first two seasons, is set to return as Frances Neagley (who was absent in the novel), while new additions to the cast include Anthony Michael Hall (The Breakfast Club), Sonya Cassidy (The Man Who Fell to Earth), Brian Tee (Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows), Johnny Berchtold (The Passenger), Roberto Montesinos (Father Stu), and Daniel David Stewart (For All Mankind).
No End in Sight for Reacher
After breaking out as the title character in Prime Video’s Reacher, Ritchson is busier than he has ever been. In addition to a third season of Reacher, the actor is developing a sequel series to his popular comedy series, Blue Mountain State (2010–11), and has a multiyear first-look movie deal with Amazon MGM Studios. He has also begun filming his new movie, the action-comedy Playdate with Kevin James. However, fans shouldn’t become worried that Ritchson will leave the show prematurely to pursue more film projects. In April 2024, he shared that he “owe[s] it to the audience to explore as many of these books as my body will allow, and I owe it to the people that took a shot on me when I was a huge risk for them. They have given me a real career.”
Reacher returns for a third season on Prime Video in 2025.
