Agatha All Along’s Golden Globe Nomination: A Major Boost for Season 2? Here’s Why It’s So Important!

Agatha All Along

Disney

Well, you don’t see this too often these days in the superhero genre. Disney’s biggest success besides Deadpool and Wolverine this year is Agatha All Along, its Disney Plus series that managed to be one of its best. Now, its star is being recognized at the Golden Globes.

Agatha herself, Kathryn Hahn, has been nominated for Best Actress in a Television Series, Musical or Comedy. Agatha All Along is certainly a comedy, but there was of course some particular emphasis on a specific song.

Hahn was incredible as Agatha, hilarious one moment, but emotionally gripping the next. The nomination is certainly well deserved. Her competition in the category is:

Ayo Edebiri (The Bear)
Jean Smart (Hacks)
Kirsten Bell (Nobody Wants This)
Quinta Brunson (Abbot Elementary)
Selena Gomez (Only Murders in the Building)

It’s a stacked category, certainly, and a win for Hahn would be tough. She’s up against Jean Smart who just won an Emmy for Hacks, and she may be destined to repeat that at the Golden Globes here.

Fans have wanted to see a season 2 of Agatha All Along, but it’s unclear if that will happen, as both A) the show was meant to be a miniseries and B) if (and when) Agatha does return, it may be in another production, like a Wiccan series or Scarlet Witch movie.

But Hahn is clear about wanting to play the part again, as she reiterated after her nomination, after previously saying that it was a good way to “say goodbye.”

“I think I meant that we were very satisfied by the way that Agatha All Along ended the arc of that story being told there,” she clarified to Deadline.

“I think everyone would be thrilled to come back, of course, in any capacity. It was a very life altering, deep experience in Atlanta, Georgia, with just this very small cast on the soundstage, day after day after day… I’m so proud, and I’m so thrilled for Marvel. They were so supportive of this tiny, fabulous, female- and queer-led show.”

The nomination certainly could help the prospects of a season 2, though again, it’s possibly that Disney may just want Hahn to return for a new series with linked characters to Agatha All Along. That would be a very Disney thing to do, albeit the higher-ups have recently said they wanted more multi-season series structured like actual TV shows. And Agatha was indeed structured like an actual TV show, rather than a chopped up movie.

Whatever the case, we will no doubt see Hahn as Agatha again. I hope she wins at the Golden Globes.
