Two DC shows that should get the X-Men ’97 treatment.
It is safe to say that the concept of the X-Men ’97 is quite unique. Bringing it back for the same audience and starting off right where it left off while using the same animation style is something that has not been done before. However, it is safe to say that the approach worked exceptionally well, with all of the episodes getting immense public engagement.
Teen Titans Need Another Go!
There have been many different series’ to follow the iconic superhero team, the Teen Titans. There have been spoof films, kids’ shows, and serious series that follow complex premises. None, however, have been as iconic as the 2003 series of the same name. Running for five seasons, the show stands at a 92% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, and has a huge fanbase due to its acclaim and methods of storytelling.
Despite all its success, the show was unable to stay on, as after 65 episodes, it ended its journey. While the TV show’s ending is nothing new in the world of Hollywood, fans get incredibly upset with the reason for their end cancellation. A similar treatment has been faced by several other iconic shows, and unfortunately, the iconic series had the same fate, even finishing on a cliffhanger.
However, ever since X-Men ’97 began airing, fans of the 2003 series have found a new ray of hope. They have been obsessively asking for it to also be renewed so that they can get some form of conclusion for the story and be able to get back an iconic part of their childhood.
Beyond the Teen Titans
Although there is no denying that Teen Titans would be an excellent contender to come back, there may be another show that is better suited. It is a common opinion that Batman Beyond is one of the most iconic and beloved versions of Batman in the entire DC Universe. It introduces an entirely new version of the character, who is interesting in so many ways, and the series is a critical masterpiece, with a 100% rating on Rotten Tomatoes.
Despite this, the show was canceled after three seasons later, not being able to truly tell its story. Even though the show had such a short run, it managed to stand out in many different ways, which perfectly proves why it should not have been canceled.
Now that DC has an opportunity to right its wrongs, it could give audiences exactly what they want. Following in the footsteps of X-Men ’97, the show could come back years after its cancellation, but much stronger.
