Fair enough, but the updates on Spider-Man 4 have also disturbed the sleep of Marvel fans. Recently, fillm producer, film executive, and current chairman and CEO of Sony Pictures Motion Picture Group, Tom Rothman’s comment on Spider-Man 4 and Venom 3 has left fans worried about the potential story arc of Holland’s upcoming movie.

It is hard to speculate what story arc Spider-Man 4 will follow after the multiversal banger in Spider-Man: No Way Home. Tom Holland’s Peter Parker lost Aunt May (Marisa Tomei), his girlfriend and best friend do not remember him anymore, and he has endured the ultimate chaos throughout his Marvel Cinematic Universe appearances. Spider-Man 4 is seemingly ditching the old story arc of the character and will begin a new chapter for the Web-Slinger, which could be more mature and responsible, fighting crimes in the street.

But with a recent comment from Sony Pictures Motion Picture’s Tom Rothman could be a hint that MCU is not over the multiversal narrative, as Venom might enter the movie. While celebrating 100 years of Sony’s Colombia Pictures, Rothman told Deadline about Spider-Man 4 and Venom 3.

“When the last of the Spider-Verse movies comes with Phil Lord and Chris Miller, it’s going to be a significant event, as will the next Tom Holland Spider-Man film…The third and last Venom, is going to be huge.”

Keyword, “significant event” which seemingly means another multiversal narrative that may set up the foundation of another character or another movie. Certainly, if Spider-Man 4 does good business, there could be more sequels on the card.

Fans Are Worried About Spider-Man 4 For One Reason

Spider-Man 4 has certainly kept fans in a frenzy with a recent update on the movie’s potential production and release date alongside the story arc. The report claimed that Spider-Man 4 will be a symbiote movie with Venom being a part of it, which makes sense considering the teases in the last movies of both franchises. However, the multiversal angle could still be at play, and fans are not in line with the same arc urging a fresh perspective with the titular character.

One thing is almost certain, both Sony and Marvel are going to consider the best possible scenario to keep the audience theater-bound. Holland’s Spider-Man franchise has been one of the money-printing machines for the studios, and it’s fair to assume that they would be careful with what they throw on the table for fans to enjoy.
