Black Cat is a Horribly Bad MCU Casting for Sydney Sweeney: She Was Born to Play 1 X-Men Member in the Reboot

Sydney Sweeney has been allegedly offered the role of Black Cat over at Marvel, but there is a different character that suits her well.

There are a lot of characters in Spider-Man’s mythos who need to make an appearance in the MCU. While the films reimagined Mary Jane, there are other staples of Spider-Man’s stories that are yet to make an appearance in the MCU. Be it Harry Osborn, Gwen Stacy, or Black Cat, these characters, that are important to Peter Parker’s personal life, have yet to even meet the character in the Sacred Timeline.

Sydney Sweeney

There are rumors that Sydney Sweeney has been offered the role of Black Cat in Spider-Man 4, which will take the character in a new direction. However, despite the need for this character in the MCU to flesh out Peter’s new life, there is another character that fans believe is best for Sydney Sweeney. Given that The Fantastic Four and the X-Men are making their way into the MCU, there is another character that would suit the actress best.

Sydney Sweeney would make an amazing Emma Frost

Emma Frost is one character in the X-Men mythos who has had a very nuanced history. Starting out as a villain, the character has become heroic, siding with the X-Men on more than one occasion. A role essayed by January Jones in Fox’s X-Men universe, Sydney Sweeney could play the role of the character in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

The MCU could use a young talent pool for its mutant population, allowing it to stay around in the MCU for quite some time. This would allow the MCU to go ahead with some stable storylines, without having to worry about actors retiring. Emma Frost is a role with immense weight in the history of the X-Men, and Sweeney has proven time and time again that she definitely has the acting chops to pull it off.

Will Marvel overhaul the X-Men after Deadpool & Wolverine?

Hugh Jackman as Wolverine

Deadpool & Wolverine brought the X-Men into the MCU, which begs the question if the MCU is looking to replace its mutant population. While there are some characters that Disney will try not to recast, such as Deadpool and perhaps even Wolverine, almost all the other X-Men are fair game. While it is known that some actors are not going to migrate from the Fox universe to the MCU, characters like Charles Xavier and Magneto have a high chance of returning.

Further, it remains to be seen how the MCU will handle its mutants, given that Marvel cannot possibly rely on the goodwill and talent of the Fox Era of the X-Men to carry the franchise forward. Given that it took the franchise a decade and a half to introduce some of its biggest hitters, the MCU would not want its mutant saga to rest on a cast that is not long for the industry due to multiple reasons.
