I Became a Grandmother, and Game of Thrones Producers Still Refuse to Stop—For One Reason!

It’s been years since Game of Thrones ended, yet somehow, we’re still trapped in Westeros. Spin-offs, prequels, and endless rumors about more projects keep pouring in. Meanwhile, time keeps marching on—I’ve gotten older, wiser, and even become a grandmother. And yet, HBO refuses to hit the brakes on the Game of Thrones universe.

At this point, we have House of the DragonA Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, rumors of a Jon Snow sequel, and whispers about even more spin-offs lurking in the shadows. Why won’t they stop? Why won’t they let us move on?

The Reason HBO Keeps Expanding Westeros

There’s only one undeniable, inescapable reason: money.

Say what you will about the controversial Game of Thrones finale, but the franchise is still a gold mine. House of the Dragon shattered records with its premiere, pulling in millions of viewers, and it’s already gearing up for Season 2. Meanwhile, George R.R. Martin continues to dangle The Winds of Winter in front of fans like a carrot on a stick—though at this rate, my grandkids might be reading it before I do.

The simple truth is: Westeros prints money, and HBO knows it. They’re going to keep making these shows until the dragon well runs dry.

What’s Next? Will I Be Watching These Shows in a Retirement Home?

If HBO keeps this up, I’ll be sitting in a rocking chair, watching House of the Dragon Season 10 while telling my grandkids, “Back in my day, we all debated whether Daenerys deserved that ending.”

The Game of Thrones universe has no end in sight, and at this rate, they might just reboot the original series before we ever get The Winds of Winter.

So, let’s be real: Will we ever escape Westeros? Or will we just keep passing it down through generations like a family heirloom?
