The Princess found herself needing to choose between her cousin and her uncle.
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle may have forced Princess Eugenie into a tough position within the British Royal Family after the Duke and Duchess of Sussex invited the 34-year-old to their Christmas party in California.
The 40-year-old son of King Charles III is without many allies in his blood family after his explosive decision to quit as senior members in 2020, followed by the infamous interview with Oprah and the controversial 2023 memoir, Spare.
Yet now Harry wants to try to return to the picture, worried about the diagnoses of cancer to his father and the Princess of Wales, Kate Middleton and has reportedly thrown out feelers to test the waters in the middle of his feud with his brother.
But it may have caused more problems than he bargained for when it comes to the daughter of the disgraced Prince Andrew, as his offer came after she was already invited by the King to Sandringham House for Xmas.
“It’s a very difficult position for Eugenie,” a source told The Daily Express, in the UK. “Because she has also been invited to Sandringham.
“Harry and Meghan have invited Eugenie and Jack to join them in California during the holidays.”
Eugenie’s political solution to the drama
Politically astute, the cousin of the renegade royal made it clear she was in an impossible situation to navigate and thus couldn’t attend, and didn’t want to be seen taking sides in their rocky relationship.
However, she has looked to strike a compromise by saying she would bring her family to the United States for the New Year, although she, Jack Brooksbank and their two children are yet to appear in California.
“The family is considering spending time in the US closer to New Year,” the source continued. “So that the children can spend time with their cousins, Prince Archie, 5, and Princess Lilibet, 3.”
