Why All Eyes Were on William and Kate: The Royal Couple’s Magnetic BAFTA 2026 Return Steals the Spotlight👑❤️

THE Prince and Princess of Wales tonight had their first joint public outing since Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor’s arrest — and William admitted he was not in a “calm state”.
He and Kate dazzled in co-ordinated colours at the Bafta ceremony in London while the monarchy is in crisis.
Wills revealed he had yet to see the harrowing film Hamnet as he needed to be calm but “I am not at the moment”.
He also revealed Kate had watched the heartbreaker about the death of Shakespeare’s son on Saturday night — and was left in floods of tears.
Asked if he had seen it, Wills said: “I need to be in quite a calm state and I am not at the moment. I will save it.”
Kate, 44, added: “I thought it was a bad idea, actually. Ended up with very puffy eyes. It was so beautifully shot.
“The music as well. The score is fantastic.”
She also praised the child actors saying: “They did so well.”
Hamnet star Paul Mescal was joined at London’s Royal Festival Hall by partner Gracie Abrams — their first red carpet together.
Kate dazzled in a Gucci gown which she previously wore in 2019.
She paired it with a maroon belt — matching the colour of William’s blazer.
Wills presented the Bafta Fellowship Award to Dame Donna Langley of NBCUniversal.
The prince admitted he had not seen Timothée Chalamet’s sports comedy Marty Supreme, and branded vampire movie Sinners “a bit dark”.
He added: “I have seen One Battle After Another. That was very good. We were not expecting it to start the way it did.”
Kate said their kids George, 12, Charlotte, ten, and Louis, seven, have started taking a greater interest in films, adding: “It’s a great way to have some of the hard conversations with them.”
Bafta film committee chair Emily Stillman mentioned Kate’s 2013 visit to a Harry Potter set in Herts, saying: “Last time I saw you, you were pregnant with George and doing your Harry Potter spells.”
Kate replied: “The children love going behind the scenes and finding out how it all happens.”
Host Alan Cumming made the royals laugh after switching to a pale suit ahead of the award for Costume Design.
He said: “Yes I have had a costume change, thank you for noticing Prince William.”
