THE Duke of Sussex is storing up emotional problems for his young children who will want to know their family, a royal expert has slammed.

It was made clear to Prince Harry that he would not be able to return to life as a working royal on a half-in half-out basis.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex decided to step down from their duties as working royals and move to America in 2020.

A royal expert previously told how the door for their return was left open to them but the pair still decided not to come back to the firm.

Instead Harry and Meghan decided to pursue a new life in Montecito, California.

But the estranged prince visited his father for the first time in more than a year, meeting for a private tea that lasted for less than an hour.

The meeting sparked rumours of a potential royal return that were quickly shot down, with the King reportedly making it “absolutely clear” to Prince Harry he can’t have a “half-in, half-out” royal role.

A royal expert believes that Harry is somewhat out of place in America and may not be very happy with his current situation.

While his wife Meghan does well making money as a celebrity, it is not something Harry ever trained for or was very good at, according to royal expert Hugo Vickers.

And, Mr Vickers has now voiced concern over the impact this might have on his kids.

It was suggested that Harry’s recent return to the UK was intended to show his brother the Prince of Wales that he could take some of the weight off his shoulders.

Mr Vickers told the Sun’s Royal Exclusive: “I don’t believe any of these things. I mean, this is what always happens. Everything that Prince Harry does gets an undue amount of attention. And, even when he was over here, people were comparing the engagements that he was doing with what Prince of Wales and Catherine were doing.

And it’s very counterproductive. But having said that, you know, I’m all for him reconciling with his father because he carries a lot of emotional baggage around with him anyway, the death of his mother. He’s probably, looks pretty unhappy in his present life out in Montecito. I also worry about the children because there’s going to come a point when they’re going to say, why haven’t I met my grandfather on either side? And so he’s storing up a lot of, you know, emotional problems for them, I think.”

Mr Vickers continued, explaining that while it’s good that the King and his estranged son have had a meeting he thinks that an apology is owed.

While the expert claims Harry has previously demanded an apology from the firm over the years long family conflict he thinks that really it’s Harry who needs to offer an olive branch.

“No way. It’s the other way round. He should be apologising to them and let’s hope he did.” Mr Vickers said.

Mr Vickers has previously voiced concerns about what Harry and Meghan’s children’s future will look like.

Speaking to The Sun he said Archie and Lilibet would one day wonder why they had never met the royal side of their family.

If Harry doesn’t reconcile properly with the firm his children could grow up in California never knowing that their royal relatives, the expert claimed.

Mr Vickers said: “If I was being brought up in California, and I suddenly discovered that my first cousin was likely to be king one day, I would like to get to know him, obviously.”

He previously said that the children could face difficulties later in life after learning about their parent’s decision to abandon royal life in the UK.

The expert raised worries over how the young royal’s lives in California look now and how they will look in the future.

He said: “One day, as they grow up, they’re going to get irritated by having had the backs of their heads photographed and used for promotion, and never having met their grandfathers, either side. Not Mr. Markle, nor the King. So it’s not a very good situation, frankly.”
