Morfydd Clark as Galadriel in The Lord of the Rings The Rings of Power season 1

The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power star Morfydd Clark teases Galadriel’s new mission in season 2. Based on source material by J.R.R. Tolkien, the hit Prime Video fantasy series is created by Patrick McKay and J.D. Payne and premiered in 2022. Galadriel essentially serves as the show’s main character, and the stormy Elf heroine suffered a major blow in The Rings of Power season 1 finale after it was revealed that her companion, Halbrand (Charlie Vickers), had actually been Sauron all along.

In a recent interview with Empire Magazine, Clark teases that this Sauron revelation will have a big impact on Galadriel in The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power season 2. According to the star, her Elf character will be on a mission for redemption, something further complicated by the forging of her Ring of Power, Nenya. Check out a new image of Galadriel and Clark’s comment below:

“She really messed up so badly. There’s a desperation to redeem herself, and through redeeming herself protect Middle-earth, which is in more danger than it ever has been. Now she’s seen the whites of the eyes of the person who’s bringing it all down, she’s all revved up.

“Even Sauron doesn’t know exactly what [The Rings of Power will] do. But it’s an extra-weird connection between Galadriel and the baddest man in Middle-earth.”

What Else Morfydd Clark Has Said About Her Character

While the reviews for The Rings of Power season 1 were mostly positive from critics, there were some complaints aimed at Galadriel. The character, it was said, was perhaps overly cold and dark as she quested after Sauron due to his apparent involvement in the death of her brother. The character, however, could be different heading into The Rings of Power season 2.

Clark previously revealed to TheWrap that, after Galadriel’s “mental crisis” in season 1, season 2 will see the character “thinking about the world… and finding joy in things a bit more.” Though things will seemingly be getting very dark for Middle-earth, it seems like Galadriel will be approaching her mission for redemption in The Rings of Power season 2 with a little less severity. Instead of being laser-focused only on her personal quest, she will see her actions as part of the broader happenings across Middle-earth.

Sauron, it seems, will be positioned as Galadriel’s direct rival, and this will help give The Rings of Power a more clear protagonist and antagonist dynamic in season 2. Clearly, however, the forging of Nenya and Galadriel’s history with Sauron will add some interesting layers to this conflict. It remains to be seen how Galadriel will evolve in season 2, but the character will evidently feature a different mindset as the adventure continues.
