Kitty Song-Covey (Anna Cathcart) is giving her older sister Lara Jean (Lana Condor) a run for her money when it comes to the complicated love life department. In the first season of XO, Kitty, Kitty convinced her parents to let her move to Seoul, Korea, to attend the same boarding school her mom attended as a teen. Kitty wanted to get closer to her mom, who died when she was a baby, but the move would also allow her to be closer to her long-distance boyfriend Dae (Choi Min-yeong). But when Kitty arrived at the Korean Independent School of Seoul (KISS), she was greeted with overwhelming possibilities and a lot of relationship drama.
While Dae was a perfect first love for Kitty, her first semester at KISS helped her realize that she’s bisexual, and she also developed feelings for Min Ho (Sang Heon Lee), Dae’s beauty-obsessed best friend. Going into Season 2, Kitty was determined to spend some time investigating her bisexual identity and avoid the drama of her incestuous friend group. She was not entirely successful on either front. Kitty could not get over her feelings for Yuri (Gia Kim), which caused a drama explosion during a New Year’s trip to Min Ho’s father’s cabin and ruined Kitty’s fledgling relationship with another girl in her class. While Min Ho was there to help her figure out more about her fractured family in Korea, he was not interested in trying anything romantic with Kitty after she so soundly rejected him on the plane to LA at the end of Season 1.
At least, that’s what he said until Kitty exposed his Season 2 girlfriend for being a stalker and trying to blackmail Min Ho’s family into her chance at stardom. It’s clear that there are definitely still romantic feelings on both sides when it comes to Min Ho and Kitty, and she’s going to spend the summer on tour with Min Ho and his brother. After two seasons, is it really time for them to finally get together? Swooon is weighing the pros and cons below, but we want to hear your take!

PRO: They’ve been the center of both season cliffhangers
Min Ho declaring he’s in love with Kitty was the Season 1 cliffhanger, but she had broken up with Dae only a few minutes prior and was still sorting through her feelings for Yuri. The timing wasn’t great, which Min Ho realized shortly into the XO, Kitty Season 2 premiere. Kitty then spent the rest of the season wrestling with her own feelings for her mercurial former roommate. She realizes she definitely does have feelings for him by the Season 2 finale, but instead of making her own confession, she asks if she can join him and his family on his brother’s music tour. We don’t know if spending the summer touring around the world together will get these two to kiss for real, but it has to mean something that both seasons have made their relationship status the central question going into the next season.

CON: Does this friend group need to get more incestuous?
It feels like everyone in this friend group has made out with multiple members of the friend group. Dae dated Kitty and fake-dated Yuri. Kitty dated Dae and kissed Yuri. Min Ho has feelings for Kitty and dated Stella (though she should not be a problem anymore). There are many overlapping feelings going on here, and maybe it would be healthier for Kitty to go back to dating someone that will splinter their hormonal group.

PRO: He calls her ‘Covey’
This one is such a big point in the pro column that even Peter Kavinsky (Noah Centineo) picked up on it during his brief visit to see Kitty in Season 2. “Covey” is also what Peter calls Lara Jean, so he knows the level of affection behind it. Fans have also picked up on the parallel and noticed that no one else calls Kitty by her last name. And it should also stand out that Min Ho was the only one of Kitty’s potential love interests to meet Peter, making the desire to compare the two even more irresistible.

CON: Kitty hasn’t had enough time to explore relationships with girls
Kitty came into Season 2 determined to investigate her sexuality after coming out as bisexual in Season 1. She tried flirting with one girl before her unresolved feelings for Yuri torpedoed that fledgling relationship. So Kitty still hasn’t had an actual relationship with a girl or spent quality time ingratiating herself in the KISS queer community. If she’s truly over Yuri now, is she also over the curiosity about that side of herself? There’s still a lot to explore there before she gets serious with another boy.

PRO: The sexy dreams
Min Ho had his world rocked by his dream makeout session with Kitty in Season 1, but the tables turned in Season 2 when Kitty had her own spicy dream about Min Ho. This is still a PG-13 show, so the spice is relative, but Min Ho whispering, “I think you do, darling,” before kissing Kitty in her dream was downright insane behavior. We can’t blame Kitty for getting flustered after that. Obviously, these two are on each other’s minds both consciously and subconsciously, and ignoring that may be at their own peril.
CON: Long distance is a real bummer
Kitty has finished her final semester at Seoul and is set to return to Portland for her senior year of school. There’s a possibility she could re-up her scholarship for more time at KISS, but they have already extended it so that she can stay the second semester. That means if she and Min Ho do decide to give their relationship a go, they will probably be long distance for at least a year before they can apply to colleges together. Kitty made long-distance work with Dae, but they were a lot younger, and there was a lot less at stake. Even though Min Ho has the means to come visit Kitty during breaks, would he want to do that when he’s just repairing his relationship with his own family? This is a lot of intense travel logistics to work out between two teenagers.

PRO: He helped her repair her fractured family
Okay, but in the spirit of “if he wanted to, he would,” Min Ho did go above and beyond in Season 2 to help Kitty bring her family back together. He helped her recover her mom’s time capsule, which led her to her cousin, who lived not far away. He traveled with her to the village where her cousin and great-aunt lived, and he helped translate. She never would have gotten her great-aunt and her grandmother together if it wasn’t for Min Ho helping her get there. He was with Stella the majority of the time they were working on the mystery, so he did it purely because he cared about Kitty. That’s worth a lot more than some sparkly pens.
