Virgin River fans divided over one of the main characters in the Netflix hit ‘skipping’ scenes with Mel Monroe character: she ‘ruined the movie’!

Virgin River fans can’t seem to agree when it comes to Mel Monroe, one of the main characters of the beloved Netflix series.

As Mel grapples with her tragic history, including the loss of her husband and a stillbirth, fans have been engrossed by her journey in the small town drama. After her marriage to Jack Sheridan following their rocky romance, opinions on her character have become as tumultuous as her storylines.

Some viewers have flocked to Reddit to admit they’ve found themselves fast-forwarding through Mel’s segments, labeling them “fake, repetitive and boring,” while others declared the character to be their top-favorite persona.

A particularly disgruntled fan sparked debate by posting, “Anyone else can’t stand Mel? She’s ruining the show for me. Everything she does is so fake, repetitive and boring.”

They added, “She lacks life. Idk if this is just bad acting. She’s the main character but in my opinion the worst one.”

Others chimed in with echoes of annoyance, as one commented, “Agreed I always skip her parts of the show.” Another agreed, “Hahaha I’m starting to skip her parts too.”

In the heat of the debate among fans, one swiftly leapt to Mel’s defense, declaring, “Totally disagree. She fits the part perfectly as a professional. She’s confident and that’s an attractive quality that Jack sees.”

Meanwhile, an admirer remarked, “She’s my favourite.” As discussions raged on, one viewer objected to the idea of skipping Mel’s scenes and raised their concerns.

“Good grief, there wouldn’t be much of a show without Mel,” they said, adding crying emoji for emphasis. Conversely, another fan didn’t hold back, offering a broader critique, “I mean, none of the characters are all that likeable. Hope and Charmaine are probably the worst. I’d say Mike is probably one of the only actually likeable characters.”
