Season four of Outer Banks just finished and that bombshell ending was the biggest TV shock of all time. Instead of getting the Blue Crown and rebuilding their home as everyone expected, the Pogues watched their best friend die.
Fans were totally distraught when JJ, played by Rudy Pankow, was killed off in the final episode, but one of the producers has just dropped a big hint that he could still appear in the next season. Wait, what?!

When asked if JJ would be seen again in an interview with Cosmopolitan, co-creator, writer, and producer Jonas Pate said: “I’d never say never.”
Season five has already been confirmed as the last season of Outer Banks, so that means if he is going to be seen again, it has to be in the next season.
It seems pretty impossible that JJ could actually be alive after they all watched him die and buried his body in Morocco, but the producers could always think up some wild plot.
His death certainly seems pretty final though.
In an interview with Netflix’s Tudum, the producer said he had always planned for JJ to eventually die.
“It was a really hard decision because he’s such a great piece of the ensemble,” he said.
“JJ’s death was a hard but necessary piece of the architecture for the story, and we plan on honoring that as much as we can because we love the character as much as the fans do. And Rudy’s a great friend of ours.”

Rudy Pankow also gave an emotional goodbye, saying: “I want to leave the cast and crew with the biggest thank-you. It’s been such a pleasure to come to work.”
“This is by far the biggest thing I’ve ever done in [my] experience, and to have this as my start is a start of a lifetime. I’m going to miss it. Thank you for so many fun memories I’ll have the rest of my life.”
“It really did make an impact on me, playing him. It’s been an honor to bring him to life for you guys, and it’s been a joy to play him. And P4L!”
Could it all be a marketing plot to make his return even more shocking than his death? Let’s hope so.
