The official cause of Liam Payne’s death has been investigated by British police and it’s not what we thought!

Liam Payne Official Cause Of Death Confirmed By UK Coroner Inquest

Liam Payne’s official cause has been confirmed in his home country.

Nearly three months after the One Direction alum tragically passed away, authorities in the United Kingdom has confirmed his cause of death. Liam unfortunately died after falling from his balcony at the Casasur Palermo Hotel in Buenos Aires, Argentina on October 16. He was just 31 years old.

According to the BBC, the Buckinghamshire Coroner’s Court held a hearing last month confirming Liam died of “polytrauma” — a term used to describe someone who suffered traumatic injuries to “multiple organs or systems,” per the National Library of Medicine.

This aligns with what Argentinian investigators came up with back in November. That early autopsy report revealed the father of one sustained multiple “internal and external” hemorrhages, according to the National Criminal and Correctional Prosecutor’s Office. At the time, prosecutors also ruled out suicide, stressing his injuries “were compatible with those produced by a fall from a height and that self-injury of any kind and/or the physical intervention of third parties were ruled out.”

Per the BBC, Senior Coroner Crispin Butler noted the Argentinian investigation during the December hearing, saying:

“Whilst there are ongoing investigations in Argentina into the circumstances of Liam’s death, over which I have no legal jurisdiction, it is anticipated that procuring the relevant information to address particularly how Liam came by his death may take some time through the formal channel of the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office.”

The investigation is very much still underway. A toxicology report in November revealed that Liam had multiple drugs in his system at the time of his death. Multiple people are being held legally responsible, including those who allegedly provided the drugs. Most recently, Braian Nahuel Paiz, a waiter accused of selling the Strip That Down singer cocaine, turned himself in. He is one of five people charged so far.

Our hearts remain with Liam’s loved ones.
