The Duffer Brothers Confirm We’ll Never See Stranger Things Characters Again After Season 5. No Spin-Offs, No Returns!

The Duffer Brothers confirmed that the Netflix‘s Stranger Things characters will not return after Season 5.

During SCAD TVfest (via Parade), Matt and Ross Duffer (also known as ‘The Duffer Brothers’) received the Variety Showrunner Award. The brothers confirmed that we’ll never see Stranger Things characters again after Season 5—no spin-offs, no returns. Additionally, rumors of a Steve and Dustin spin-off were shut down.

Matt said, “This story, these characters’ stories—that’s done.” He added, “That whole story is coming to an end. There’s not like a Steve/Dustin spin-off or something like that.”

He continued, “The hope is that we finish telling this story, and then you leave it and tell new stories. Hopefully, there are new characters that people can fall in love with.”

Ross Duffer says that they spent a full year filming Stranger Things Season 5, capturing over 650 hours of footage. He described Season 5 as their “biggest and most ambitious season yet,” comparing it to “8 blockbuster movies” and calling it “pretty, pretty insane.”

Season 5 stars Winona Ryder as Joyce Byers, David Harbour as Jim Hopper, Finn Wolfhard as Mike Wheeler, Millie Bobby Brown as Eleven / Jane Hopper, Gaten Matarazzo as Dustin Henderson, Caleb McLaughlin as Lucas Sinclair, Noah Schnapp as Will Byers, Sadie Sink as Max Mayfield, Natalia Dyer as Nancy Wheeler, Charlie Heaton as Jonathan Byers, Joe Keery as Steve Harrington, Maya Hawke as Robin Buckley, Amybeth McNulty as Vickie, Priah Ferguson as Erica Sinclair, Brett Gelman as Murray Bauman, Cara Buono as Karen Wheeler, Jamie Campbell Bower as Vecna / Henry Creel / One, Linda Hamilton, and Nell Fisher as Holly Wheeler.
