The surprise visit to Sadler’s Wells theatre, in Angel, comes just weeks after she spoke of her “relief” that her chemotherapy treatment has finished.

She watched the two-hour matinee performance of English National Ballet’s Giselle.

Posting a photo on social media – which she did not take herself – she wrote a message and signed it off with ‘C’.

Kate penned the heartwarming message to performers and directors of the English National Ballet on X, formerly Twitter.

The sweet message was posted on the official joint Twitter account for the Prince and Princess of Wales.

It read: “Congratulations and thank you to @ENBallet and @Sadlers_Wells for the wonderfully powerful, moving and inspiring performance of Akram Khan’s Giselle.

“Creativity at its best! C”

The ballet Giselle tells the story of a young peasant girl in love with a Duke who hides his title and is already engaged.

But when she discovers his deception she is driven to insanity and dies of a broken heart.

Akram Khan’s astonishing reworking of the popular classic ballet was first created in 2016.

Sources close to Kate say she has a long-held love for arts and ballet.

The the mother-of-three has previously revealed “My daughter Charlotte likes dancing. She loves ballet and tap.”

It comes as Kate has begun to take small steps back into royal life.

Earlier this week, the princess held her second official work meeting of the year.

She convened her team at Windsor Castle to arrange her ‘Royal Carols: Together At Christmas’ concert at Westminster Cathedral.

She is set to host her fourth annual carol concert that will be aired by ITV on Christmas Eve.

Kate has also carried out engagements for her Early Years projects behind the scenes.

Meanwhile, the Princess of Wales was spotted for the first time since announcing she’d finished chemotherapy.

Members of the Royal Family attended Crathie Kirk Church near Balmoral Castle in Scotland for the Sunday Service.

The Princess of Wales sat in the passenger seat of a car while Prince William, 42, was seen driving.

The mum-of-three looked well and appeared to be wearing a khaki hat.

They joined King Charles, 75, and Queen Camilla, 77, at the small parish church.

It was later reported the couple enjoyed a getaway to Scotland, while Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis remained in Windsor.

Earlier this month, Kate told how “doing what I can to stay cancer free” was now her focus as she revealed the road to recovery is still long.

But she said she was “looking forward” to being back at work and taking on a few more public engagements in the coming months.

It is also understood she will join her family at the Cenotaph on Remembrance Sunday as she slowly returns to public duties.

This will include light duties later in the year, as well as planning her her annual carol service.
