My Life With The Walter Boys Season 2 Update Confirms New Episodes Will Stick With The Story And Kick Summer I Turned Pretty’s Ass

My Life with the Walter Boys season 2 is taking a new direction as it steps away from the source material. Based on Ali Novak’s work, the series follows Jackie Howard (Nikki Rodriguez) as she adjusts to her new life living with the Walter family and finds love with brothers Cole (Noah LaLonde) and Alex (Ashby Gentry). The first season drew many comparisons to Prime Video’s The Summer I Turned Pretty, since they both explore the quintessential teen love triangle and are based on a novel. However, the two will start to deviate due to the plans for My Life with the Walter Boys season 2.

In a recent interview with Swooon, Gentry shared an update on season 2. He mentioned that he hasn’t read the upcoming Walter Boys book sequel, which is set for release on April 15, 2025, and he doesn’t believe his co-stars have either. He also shared that the new installment is “completely different,” adding that the team is excited to explore new territory. In his words:

It’s completely different. We have no connection to the book any further… it’s enjoyable to sort of crack your own, blaze your own trail.

[Viewers] can expect things to get a little bit more intense, and you can expect characters who changed a lot.

What This Means For My Life With The Walter Boys

A New Journey For Jackie And the Walters

This change offers the show a unique opportunity to broaden its universe and explore new untapped storylines. My Life with the Walter Boys already began breaking away from the source material in season 1, when Alex and Jackie did not officially call things off before she went to New York for the summer. However, they did keep the part of the book in which Jackie and Cole, Alex’s brother, share a passionate kiss before her departure. The new direction opens the door for new twists, especially since the finale left unresolved tensions between Jackie and the boys.

The book sequel is said to pick up after Jackie’s return to the ranch and focus on her relationship with Cole. However, with no need to follow the book, season 2 can take these threads in surprising directions. The new season could explore Jackie’s summer in New York, potentially introducing new characters and love interests while challenging her personal growth and independence away from the Walters. Alternatively, if the season focuses on her return to the ranch, it could shift the storyline between Jackie and the brothers, developing new dynamics and even exploring possibilities beyond the original love triangle.

Fresh Storytelling, New Possibilities

The decision to venture beyond the book’s plot could be a game-changer for My Life with the Walter Boys. While some devoted book fans may have concerns, this new creative direction has the potential to enhance the series by adding a sense of unpredictability. This approach not only revitalizes the material for long-time fans but will also leave them on edge since they cannot rely on the book to predict what will happen in season 2.

With the writers now in charge of the plot, the show could take any direction, making the wait for season 2 even more exciting.

Although there has been no confirmation of when My Life with the Walter Boys season 2 will be released, there can be plenty of speculation over which unresolved storylines could be the focus of the next installment. A rewatch could also spark new opinions and theories about Jackie and the Walter boys. With the writers now in charge of the plot, the show could take any direction, making the wait for season 2 even more exciting.
