My Life With The Walter Boys ending spoilers: Who will Jackie be with? Alex or Cole?

The ending of My Life with the Walter Boys leaves many questions unanswered, with the most ardent question being about who Jackie chooses between Alex and Cole. The series premiered on Netflix on December 7, and it consists of 10 episodes following Jackie Howard who moved to a small town after her family died in a tragic accident. During her stay with the Walter family, Jackie finds herself in the middle of a classic TV love triangle, and the season finale does little to provide an answer to one of the most important questions.

My Life with the Walter Boys is based on the 2014 eponymous novel by Ali Novak, which was first started as a Wattpad story. The Netflix TV show does a good job adapting the book, but it does take more creative freedom with the story. There are fewer Walter children, some of the characters’ scenes are inversed, and the love triangle between Jackie, Cole, and Alex is even more ardent than the one in the book. After 10 drama-filled episodes, My Life with the Walter Boys season 1 ending resolves the issues for many characters, but it also leaves many questions unanswered, especially for the main romance.

Who Does Jackie End Up With In My Life With The Walter Boys?

The first season had Jackie torn between Alex and Cole

After moving in with the Walter family, Jackie is caught between two of the brothers, Alex and Cole, and My Life With the Walter Boys finale doesn’t settle the matter of who she ends up with. With Alex being the safe choice between the two, Jackie starts dating him at earlier in the season, and the two are still dating the finale. After Alex confesses he loves her, Jackie doesn’t answer, and Alex is heartbroken and starts drinking. After the wedding, Jackie finds her sister’s mug that Cole fixed and goes to thank him. Then, Jackie and Cole kiss for the first time. The next day, she leaves for New York.

Although the book clears everything up for the love triangle, the series leaves things unresolved. In the book, Jackie and Alex break up, and he pushes her to go to New York. Jackie shares her first kiss with Cole on her way to the airport. My Life With the Walter Boys’ finale “Happily Ever After” leaves everything open for them, as Alex and Jackie didn’t break up, and Jackie leaves behind a note that says “I’m sorry.” Although the two kissed, the series didn’t show whether she cleared anything up with Cole, either. That way, if there were a My Life With the Walter Boys season 2, Alex is still an option.

Do Will & Hayley Get Married After All?

They started as the strongest couple

Zoe Soul as Hayley and Jonny Link's Will at their wedding in My Life with the Walter Boys

Will is the oldest of the Walter brothers, and the first few episodes established he was going to marry Hayley. The two seemed like a very strong couple in the first episodes, and they were eager to get married. However, throughout the season, they broke up because they wanted different things and struggled with finding money for a big wedding, pushing Hayley to sell her wedding dress and Will to work even harder. Luckily, the two get back together in episode 9, “Revolutions,” and agree to have a small wedding at the Walter farm. Will and Hayley get married in the finale, bringing their families together for a happy celebration.

My Life With The Walter Boys Still Needs To Answer Who Morgan Is

This sets up more drama for Will and Hayley

Will and Hayley struggled throughout season 1, but their issues were never about another person. Hayley and Will’s problems stemmed from their ambitions and different understanding and expectations of each other, so My Life With the Walter Boys needs to answer who Morgan is. The person came out of nowhere, as Hayley’s phone rang during her wedding night with Will, and, after he asked who it was, Hayley lied that it was her best friend, Tara. Although there was no indication that Hayley had any romantic suitors during her break with Will, her lying to Will suggests more problems for the couple, and the show needs to clarify that.

What’s Next For George & Katherine’s Farm In My Life With The Walter Boys?

The Walter parents dealt with a lot

Marc Blucas as George Walter hugging Sarah Rafferty's Katherine in My Life With the Walter Boys.

George and Katherine, the Walter parents, had a lot on their minds in season 1. Besides taking care of their eight children, two nephews, Jackie, and their jobs, the farm they owned was a struggle, and George even considered selling it to a developer to make ends meet. However, although My Life with the Walter Boys didn’t solve the issues George and Katherine were having with their ranch, it did set up a possible way to save it.

Will, who was constantly trying to find new ways to start his own business, saw the potential the farm had after organizing his wedding. He approached Jackie’s rich uncle, Richard, and told him an idea about turning the land into a countryside getaway, with yurts, cookouts, guided horse trails, cider-making, and more. That way, George’s ranch could still be up and running, separate from the countryside getaway experience. Although there’s no definite plan or backing from Richard, My Life with the Walter Boys finale sets the farm on a good recovery path.

My Life With The Walter Boys Season 1’s Ending Means Jackie Could Return To New York For Good

Jackie didn’t tell anyone she was leaving

Nikki Rodriguez as Jackie wearing a red dress, smiling in New York in the first episode in my Life with the Walter Boys

The last scene of My Life with the Walter Boys shows Jackie on the plane with Uncle Richard and Danny, on their way to New York. Since she hasn’t clarified anything with either Alex or Cole, Jackie could return to New York for good to escape the drama. Besides the note that Alex found, Jackie didn’t tell anyone she was leaving, not even Katherine and George. That way, she could get back on track with her plan to get to Princeton, and live with Uncle Richard, as he suggested in the fifth episode, “Thanksgiving.”

However, her going away to New York might not be for good. In the book, Danny is going to New York for the summer, and he insists she joins him, so they can stay in her apartment. Alex encourages her to do it and get closure for her parents’ dying, and to come back stronger. Although the show left this detail out, Jackie leaving for New York for good is unrealistic, especially since she left all her things, including her sister’s mug, behind. That way, she could use the time in New York to clear her head and return in the fall when school starts again.

Is Alex Really In Love With Jackie?

The show left Alex still as an option

In My Life With the Walter Boys season finale, Alex tells Jackie he loves her for the first time. After making it clear he never loved his ex-girlfriend, Paige, Alex confessing his love for Jackie is a big deal. However, many details hint he might not be in love with her for real. Season 1 showed Alex trying to cope with being in his brother Cole’s shadow at all times, and his dating Jackie could be just one way to get back at him, and to prove himself that he’s better than Cole.

In the book, Alex and Jackie date until the last chapter, when Jackie admits she has feelings for Cole, which Alex understands. The two are better friends than they are on the show, and he admits he might still have feelings for his ex (called Mary in the book). Although My Life With the Walter Boys season 1 finale left things unclear for Alex and Jackie, he is still an option for her, as they never broke up before Jackie left, and her note was ambiguous. Alex was a safe option for Jackie, and, although he seemed into her, it’s also a way to continue his feud with Cole.

Could Erin & Danny Get Together In My Life With The Walter Boys Season 2?

Erin had the best character growth in season 1

Erin dated Cole on and off in season 1, before putting an end to it after finding out about him and her best friend, Olivia. My Life With the Walter Boys hinted Erin and Danny would make a great pairing since the fourth episode, and the finale left them in a good place. After running into each other in the hallway at school, Erin told Danny he could text her about New York. Although the two didn’t kiss or become a couple in season 1, Erin and Danny had amazing chemistry in season 1. Their slow-burn romance could lead to them getting together in My Life with the Walter Boys season 2.

My Life With The Walter Boys Is Already Setting Up Alex And Kiley

Alex might think that he’s in love with Jackie, but the finale also had him share a moment with his best friend, Kiley. Since My Life With the Walter Boys tried to make Cole her only viable option for Jackie and ended up with them kissing shortly after Alex confessed his love for her, season 2 might switch the narrative into portraying Alex and Kiley as endgame. The two have been friends since kindergarten, and, despite Alex dismissing Kiley as “practically a dude” in the finale, season 1 proved the two had a lot in common, and that they have a lot of chemistry that could lead to a romance.

How My Life With The Walter Boys’ Ending Sets Up Season 2

Season 1’s cliffhanger needs a continuation

Myles Perez as Lee Garcia, Isaac Arellanes as Isaac Garcia, Connor Stanhope as Danny Walter, Noah LaLonde as Cole Walter, and Ashby Gentry as Alex Walter in My Life with the Walter Boys on Netflix.

My Life with the Walter Boys hasn’t been officially renewed for season 2, but the season 1 finale sets up a possible continuation. Things are unclear for the main love triangle consisting of Jackie, Alex, and Cole, as well as for many other characters. The new season could pick up after Jackie returns from New York, with a clear mind, knowing who she will choose. There are many ways to continue the story for the side characters as well, including the Walter parents, Danny, and Nathan, and giving the rest of the Walter boys more screen time.

My Life with the Walter Boys season 1 finished at the same time as the source material. Author Ali Novak has said that she is not planning on writing a sequel unless the book is adapted (via Ali Novak’s website). However, given that My Life with the Walter Boys seems to be performing very well on Netflix, the possibility of a second season cannot be ruled out. My Life with the Walter Boys season 2 could feature new adventures with the Walter boys and properly reveal who Jackie ends up with in the end.
