WHETHER it’s the correct pronunciation of a word or the capital of a country, we’ve all learned about something seemingly obvious later than we’re willing to admit.
King Charles is apparently no different as a royal biography reveals the monarch’s reaction to seeing a common kitchen item for the first time.

Author Tom Bower detailed the scenario in his book Rebel Prince, which discussed the life of the late Prince Philip.
In one chapter, he claimed the then prince “shrieked” and “trembled” when first coming into contact with cling film.
Bower claimed one of Prince Philip’s gripes about his eldest on was his disconnect from the real world.
This was never clearer than when Charles allegedly struggled with the concept of cling film.
The author claim Charles’ wife Camilla Parker Bowles was present for the discovery.
“He walked into the dining room and shrieked,” Bower wrote in his book.
“Fearing the worst, Camilla dashed in after him.
“‘What’s this?’ asked her husband, pointing at the food.”
The author recalled Camilla’s straight-forward reply to her husband’s confusion.
“‘It’s cling film, darling,’ she replied.”
The Guardian first published a segment of the unauthorised biography in 2018.
However, Clarence House declined to comment on the book’s release.
Without official comment, we may never know the King’s true thoughts on cling film.
However, his step-son has previously made the monarch’s views on recycling quite clear.
Tom Parker Bowles, a food critic and author, described his step-father as a champion of recycling, reports The Independent.
Royal staff jobs
Buckingham Palace employs a wide variety of positions, including:
Butler
Goat herder
Assistant to the King
Retail assistant
Visitor assistant
Ambassador
Warden
Cleaner
HR officer
Office manager and bookkeeper
IT director
Food taster
Dog walker
According to Tom, Charles “appalls waste” and has banned royal staff from throwing away leftovers.
“There is no waste, everything is recycled, everything is used from the table,” the 49-year-old said.
It appears cling film is widely used at Buckingham to keep food scraps fresh for future meals.
“If anything is leftover from the dinner, that will be made into something else or appear the next day,” Tom revealed.
“Nothing’s allowed to be thrown out.”
