Meghan Markle notably recounted the ‘jarring’ moment she first met her future sister-in-law, the Princess of Wales, in her contentious Netflix series.

In the explosive documentary with Prince Harry, Meghan described how her initial introduction to Kate occurred when she and Prince William visited the Sussexes’ home for dinner, where she was barefoot and wearing ripped jeans.

She elaborated that she had always been ‘a hugger’, but didn’t realise this was ‘jarring’ for Brits.

However, a contrasting account comes from a new memoir penned by Kate’s brother, James Middleton.

He narrates his future wife Alizee’s similarly informal introduction to his elder sister, painting a very different picture to Meghan’s first meeting.

James encountered Alizee in the summer of 2018 following a meeting involving his pet dog Ella, who has since sadly passed away. After their unexpected initial encounter, the couple began dating after kindling a romance.

In his new memoir Meet Ella: The Dog Who Saved My Life, James reminisces about the first time he introduced his then-girlfriend to Kate, William and his nephew and niece Prince George and Princess Charlotte in an unexpected moment, reports the Mirror.

In his book, James recalls a humorous mix-up where he Alizee unexpectedly stayed at the Middleton family home in Berkshire following a wedding, only to discover that his brother-in-law Prince William, sister Kate, and their children were also there for the night. He encountered the royal youngsters giggling in the morning, which led him to find out about the unexpected family overlap.

Leaving Alizee asleep, he ventured downstairs to greet his family and prepare a morning cup of tea for his girlfriend.

James gives insight through his tale: “I’m about to take a cup up to Alizee when she appears at the kitchen door. She has just got out of bed, her hair still tousled, and she is wearing one of my shirts. In situations like this, Alizee is wonderfully French.”

Rather than scurry away in embarrassment, Alizee greets everyone warmly clad in just an oversized shirt, as if it were completely ordinary to meet her boyfriend’s sister and brother-in-law in such casual attire for the first time.

There was no discomfort from the impromptu meeting, and James recounts spending the day with his parents, siblings, and their children. He shares that his sister gave him a “special squeeze” and confided: “She’s just great”.

The revelation follows Prince Harry’s account of the first meeting between Meghan and Kate in his explosive memoir, Spare. In the book, Harry recounts how Meghan cooked and the conversation flowed easily as they discussed Wimbledon and the TV show Suits.

However, he notes that one notable distinction between the two women was their attire. Harry writes: “The only possibly discordant note I could think of was the marked difference in how the two women dressed, which both of them seemed to notice. “Meg: ripped jeans, barefoot. Kate: done up to the nines. No big deal, I thought.”
