The recent years haven’t been too kind for Prince Harry and Meghan Markle. When word got out that the two were in a relationship, all hell broke loose. Meghan, in particular, faced attack by British tabloids so much that it nearly broke her. The couple’s decision to leave royalty was met with different reactions, but it was the right, for the sake of their peace of mind. After a period of stone-cold silence, they returned with an explosive interview. It is difficult to predict what the future holds, especially now that they just welcomed a daughter, Lilibet Diana Mountbatten-Windsor.

Given that Harry and Meghan no longer consider themselves royalty, how will the upbringing of Lilibet and Archie play out? Our bet is that the couple will borrow from the playbook of Harry’s mom, Princess Diana, who was passionate about giving her children a somewhat normal life, amidst a family feud. Likewise, Meghan and Harry could raise their children just like private high-profile celebrity couples do.

10No Royal Titles?

Since Prince Harry and Meghan Markle no longer consider themselves royals, questions are being raised on Lilibet and Archie’s place in the royal family. It was reported that Archie, who is currently seventh in the line of succession, was to be titled ‘Earl of Dumbarton’. His parents, however, thought differently and preferred that he be a private citizen. While Lilibet is supposed to use the title ‘Lady’ before her first name, it’s unlikely that she, too, will uphold the Royal standard.

9A United Front As Parents

Prince Harry and Prince William were raised in a broken royal family. Princess Diana and Prince Charles’ relationship was marred with bile and had media at the center of it all. Growing up, the boys had to split time between both parents, with each trying to win them over. It is unlikely that Lilibet and Archie will experience the same, as Meghan and Harry have shown nothing but love towards each other.

8Archie’s First Day Of School

In September 1985, the world witnessed as Prince William, accompanied by his parents, made his way into Mrs. Mynor’s Nursery School. The same happened with Prince Harry in 1989, Years later, in 2017, Prince George would show up with his dad on his first day at Thomas’s Battersea. Unlike Harry and William’s childhood, there is very little chance that the media will get hold of Archie’s first day of school.

7No Cameras, Please!

Princess Diana tried her best to give her children a memorable childhood. The only problem with that decision was the presence of the media. According to royal biographer Robert Jobson, William, in particular, didn’t have a soft spot for meddling photographers. Harry, on the other hand, was carefree from the beginning. Perhaps fatherhood has something to do with a change of mind. Given the couple’s ask for privacy, documentation of their children’s lives will  most likely be private.

6A Trip To McDonald’s?

Diana’s quest to give the boys a normal childhood was evident in her choice of entertainment. Besides vacations overseas that were the royal norm, she let them experience cuisine outside the royal menu. According to Chef Darren McGrady, who worked with the family for 11 years, he was astonished when Princess Diana canceled lunch to take the boys to McDonald’s. We’re sure Lilibet and Archie could do with a happy meal.

5They May Appear On Archewell Audio

2020 marked the debut of Prince Harry and Meghan’s search for financial independence. The year brought with it a podcasting deal with Spotify. Archie made his debut on the podcast, wishing the audience a happy new year. It is likely that we’ll be hearing snippets of his and Lillibet’s voice once in a while. Archewell Audio is aimed at ‘driving powerful conversations that inspire, challenge and educate.’

4And Read Mom’s Own Bedtime Story

Meghan borrowed a leaf from the book of Prince Charles, who authored The Old Man of Lochnagar. Her children’s title, The Bench, was recently released. It was inspired by her life with Harry and Archie in California. Lilibet, who hadn’t arrived at the time the book was illustrated, is also featured in The Bench. The story is that of father and son, as seen through the mother’s eyes.

3Their Proms Will Be Security-Tight

However normal Archie and Lilibet’s childhood will be, they are less likely to have a normal prom experience. Michelle Obama once revealed that prom for her girls wasn’t business as usual .Outside the comfort of home, they were still children with famous parents. Archie and Lilibet will probably go down that route. Although their parents revealed that royal security was no longer an option, by the time prom comes, Lilibet and Archie will definitely be under close watch.

2An Ivy League Schooling?

It’s not uncommon for high-profile celebrities to give their children the best education. Prince Harry attended Eton College, a popular institution amongst royals. While Prince William also attended the institution, he further went to the University of St. Andrews, one of the best in Scotland. Given that Meghan and Harry are not in the UK, Archie and Lilibet are bound to attend America’s top learning institutions.

1They May/May Not Join The British Military

Queen Elizabeth served in the military, so did Prince Harry, Prince William, and Prince Charles. Prince Harry, in particular, loved his time in Afghanistan, as it was away from the pressures of being a royal. He is, therefore, more likely to embrace the idea of his own children serving in the military. Only time will tell whether that happens or not.
