Cameras Capture Queen Elizabeth’s ‘Uncomfortable’ Moments During Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s Wedding

Weddings are supposed to be joyous occasions, but many remember a royal wedding where not everyone was beaming with happiness.

On May 19, 2018, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle said “I do” at St. George’s Chapel, Windsor Castle. While the bride and groom were beaming from ear to ear during the ceremony, some of those in attendance, including Princess Anne, Zara Tindall, Camilla Parker Bowles, and Prince Edward’s wife Sophie, looked “uncomfortable.”

Now, a video going viral shows Queen Elizabeth not looking thrilled either watching her grandson and the former Suits star‘s nuptials. Here’s more on that and the three things a royal author says were bothering the late monarch that day.

If you look back at photos from Harry and Meghan’s wedding, you’d be hard-pressed to find any of Queen Elizabeth smiling during the ceremony. Now, a video uploaded to TikTok has gone viral showing the queen looking less than pleased as the duke and duchess tied the knot.

The 12-second clip has more than 850,000 views, 129,000 likes, and hundreds of comments discussing why Queen Elizabeth didn’t look happy.

Some opined that maybe she had a bad feeling about Meghan, writing: “The queen knew she was trouble right from the start. She was a great judge of character” and “I’m sure the queen felt something bad coming from Meghan. She was a smart old woman.”

Others commented that the queen possibly looked that way because she had a long day and could have just been exhausted.

The 3 things Queen Elizabeth had a problem with

Royal biographer Ingrid Seward revealed there were three things that Queen Elizabeth took issue with about the wedding.

Seward shared that the late queen spoke to her cousin, Lady Elizabeth Anson, on the phone daily and told her that she did not think Meghan’s dress was appropriate. Seward noted in her book that the queen told Anson that the Givenchy gown was “too white” for a divorcee getting remarried in a church to look “quite so flamboyantly virginal.”

Seward said that the late monarch was also worried about her husband, Prince Philip. He attended the wedding with her but had hip surgery weeks earlier, and she wondered if he would be able to make it up and down the aisle to their seats.

“She was also concerned about 96-year-old Prince Philip’s decision to hobble down the aisle without a stick, despite having had a hip replacement just five weeks before,” the author wrote per The Mirror, before adding that Philip did not show any problems walking that day.

Finally, Seward offered another reason for the late queen’s expression. She explained that Queen Elizabeth and Philip were not fond of long sermons so they didn’t exactly enjoy hearing Archbishop Michael Curry, who had never met Meghan and Harry before that day, go on for 14 minutes about how much the couple loved each other.
