After just one season with theĀ Los Angeles Chargers, 2024 starting cornerback Kristian Fulton is headed to theĀ Kansas City ChiefsĀ on a two-year, $20 million deal with $15 million guaranteed. NFL insider Ian Rapoport was first with the news.
Fulton was signed by the Chargers after an underwhelming stint with the Titans after Tennessee selected him in the second round of the 2020 draft out ofĀ LSU. In his lone season with the Chargers, Fulton recorded a career-high 51 tackles to go with three tackles for loss, seven pass breakups and a lone interception. He started 14 games while playing in 15 total, mainly opposite rookies Tarheeb Still and Cam Hart.
While Fulton was a key part of the defensive resurgence in Los Angeles under DC Jesse Minter, he faltered down the final stretch of the season, ending the year with the most touchdowns allowed in coverage on the team (six) and posting two of his three worst PFF grades in the Chargersā final two games of the year.
After playing well relative to his contract for most of the season, it seems like both Jim Harbaugh and Joe Hortiz believe they can get better play moving forward from their promising rookies and the newly-signed Donte Jackson.
