Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s Feud With the Royals Is Reportedly “As Great As Ever”

The stalemate comes as the Sussexes prep for their next overseas trip.

Meghan Markle and her husband, Prince Harry, opened up in a new interview with CBS over the weekend. The sit-down included the duke and duchess introducing The Parents’ Network, which will work with the Archewell Foundation to give parents resources and help with navigating social media and online bullying. But even with the intention of promoting the new charity, viewers wondered whether or not the duo would address the “elephant in the room,” as royal expert and historian Dr. Tessa Dunlop referred to the feud between the Sussexes and the Firm.

According to Dunlop, who spoke with The Mirror, there’s been no progress in any sort of reconciliation between Meghan and Harry and the British royal family.

“Despite all their well-intentioned good works and conciliatory talk in other fields, the chasm between the Sussexes and the British royals remains as great as ever,” Dunlop said.

She went on to say that the only way for there to be any sort of healing and bridge-building, there needed to be a clear line of communication and everyone needed to be open to listening.

“Until there is genuine open contact between the House of Windsor and the Sussexes, Harry and Meghan’s pain thesis will continue to wound, undermining credibility on both sides,” Dunlop added. “As the duchess explained on Sunday, if her sharing helps others, ‘Then that’s worth it. I’ll take a hit for that.'”

Dunlop also explained how the couple’s upcoming trip to Colombia doesn’t just reflect on the Sussexes and their focus on philanthropy. Even though they’re not working royals anymore, anything and everything they do is connected to the royals. So, their charitable efforts could still offer a bit of good press to the royals. But Dunlop notes that people don’t always see it that way, since the rift has also given the public an inside look at the bad blood between Harry, Meghan, and the rest of the royals.

“In the style of their trip to Nigeria, soon Harry and Meghan will take off for Colombia, all in the name of service. And rather than being a service that compliments the philanthropic brand the British royal family established, it will be in opposition to it,” Dunlop said. “If only both parties could remember they are stronger together. That doesn’t mean a reunited Harry and Meghan inside the royal fold, but public reconciliation and communication.”
