Henry Cavill may play Richard Nova in Marvel’s Nova TV show, about an intergalactic, super-powered police force.

Henry Cavill has played Superman in the DC Cinematic Universe. He played Geralt of Rivia in The Witcher on Netflix. He left partway through. Now, rumor has it that he could be joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe in Nova, a new show that’s been in the works for a minute now.

Nova is about Richard Rider. He’s a member of the Nova Force, an intergalactic police organization whose members have superpowers like flight and super-strength. (Yes, they do sound a little like the Marvel version of the Green Lanterns, but that’s their business.) It’d be like Cavill was back in the Superman suit.

This rumor comes from MyTimeToShineHello on X, who report on whispers on the winds in Hollywood. There’s no guarantee that this will actually happen; it’s more a fun jumping-off point for discussion.

To this day, Henry Cavill is much beloved among the nerd faithful; even now, he’s working on a TV adaptation of the tabletop miniature wargame Warhammer 40k for Prime Video. Assuming he has time to join the MCU, I’m sure fans would welcome him.

That said, Marvel has been pulling back on their original series lately and I’m not sure Nova will have the pull to get someone like Cavill into the main role. Then again, Marvel has been successful before taking obscure characters and turning them into household names, like the Guardians of the Galaxy. And a big star like Henry Cavill could help sell it.

But we aren’t even 100% sure that Nova will happen, so we may be getting ahead of ourselves talking about who will star. In the meantime, there are plenty of Marvel TV shows coming this year, including Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-ManMarvel ZombiesIronheart and Daredevil: Born Again, which will premiere on March 4. If Nova does happen, it won’t be for a few years.
