Prince Harry defends Meghan Markle as a boss: says she’s ‘kind’ as Meghan faces criticism again

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle left the royal family back in 2020 to live a life on their own terms. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex now live in Montecito, California, and they have had the chance to dive into their own business ventures. However, it hasn’t always fared well for them. While some of their businesses have been successful, it’s come at the cost of alleged anonymous sources complaining about what it’s really like to work for Meghan.

In a recent interview, people who previously worked for Meghan had mixed reviews about her as a boss, with some saying she was lovely and others saying she was “really awful.” Either way, Harry once defended his wife’s attitude as a boss by speaking about all the things she did for her employees — but these days, not everyone believes it.

Prince Harry once defended Meghan Markle’s workplace attitude

For several years, Meghan has been criticized for the type of boss she was. When she was a working royal, staff complained that Meghan allegedly bullied them, and those accusations have followed her other projects. In 2024, The Hollywood Reporter released an article from alleged sources that claimed Meghan was a nightmare in the work place. And in 2025, Vanity Fair did the same, though the reviews were a little more mixed.

We can’t possibly know what type of boss Meghan truly is, but Harry once rushed to her defense in his memoir, “Spare,” detailing all the small things Meghan did to let her staff know she appreciated them.

“[Meghan] spread kindness,” Harry wrote in “Spare,” according to Mirror. “She sent out handwritten thank you notes, checked on staff who were ill, sent baskets of food and flowers or goodies to anyone struggling, depressed or off sick.”

Meghan Markle has been struggling to rebuild her popularity

It seems that whenever Meghan has something going well for her, she is dealt another curveball. Meghan announced the launch of her new Netflix show, With Love, Meghan, in early 2025, and what seemed to be a fun, upbeat look into the duchess’ life was quickly overshadowed by celebrities calling her out for touring LA wildfire damage and another article suggesting that not everyone viewed her as a pleasant person.

At this point, Meghan’s best hope is that the Netflix show sheds her in a more positive light. The show is due to premiere on March 4, and it could be the one thing that finally makes the duchess more relatable.
