Marvel Drops a Bombshell: Agatha All Along Season 2 Theories Just Got Wildly Real

Agatha Harkness is still a villain in Agatha All Along episode 8

It may not be the end for Agatha Harkness’ Marvel Cinematic Universe spinoff show, as Marvel Studios is making moves that could be setting up Agatha All Along season 2. Even though it was announced to be a limited series, fans of the MCU timeline have made it clear that they are not ready to bid farewell to Kathryn Hahn’s Agatha All Along series just yet. Despite the Agatha All Along finale seeing the titular witch becoming a ghost, the door is far from closed on Hahn’s beloved character – and the theories the show could have a second season may have just gotten more support.

According to a new report from Variety, Marvel Studios and Disney+ are submitting Agatha All Along in the comedy series category rather than a miniseries. Notably, the Television Academy’s official criteria for the limited/miniseries category states that, “The program must tell a complete, non-recurring story and not have an ongoing storyline or main characters in subsequent seasons.” Having Agatha All Along be submitted as a comedy series thus raises the chances of a season 2 renewal. At the time of this story’s publication, Marvel Studios and Disney+ have not made any comments on Agatha All Along‘s future.

While Marvel Studios’ Golden Globes submission for Agatha All Along could be to capitalize on some of the more comedic elements of the series, it poses a lot of questions about whether they may actually be considering renewing it for another season. Ever since Agatha All Along debuted on Disney+, the reported ratings have been going up, making it a success for the streaming service. If the Phase 5 series were to land a significant number of accolades during the award season, that might encourage Disney+ and Marvel Studios to go forward with Agatha All Along season 2.

However, it’s crucial to take into consideration that even if Agatha All Along season 2 were to happen, it wouldn’t premiere for quite some time, given everything that Disney+ has coming up from Marvel Studios’ TV slate already. As of right now, Marvel Studios is focusing heavily on wrapping up The Multiverse Saga, as several films and TV shows are lined up for Phase 6, which is the final stretch for this storyline. If anything, Agatha All Along season 2 could debut as late as the beginning of Phase 7, and that is assuming all the actors are available and if there is a story worth exploring.

Given how open-ended the Agatha All Along finale was for both Agatha and Billy Maximoff, there are absolutely a lot of great directions for the MCU TV show to take if it was to come back for season 2. It would only be proper to see Agatha All Along explore the pair looking for Tommy Maximoff, assuming he isn’t making his re-introduction to the MCU in a prior project. But for now, the world can relive every single episode of Agatha All Along season 1 on Disney+.
