Victoria Beckham revealed the scene in David’s Netflix series made her ‘quite nervous’ and it involved Meghan

Victoria and David Beckham starred in a Netflix documentary show about themselves last year and she has now revealed exactly when they watched it together

Victoria Beckham says she shared a romantic moment with husband David when they finally decided to watch the final episode of their Netflix show – and revealed the scenes that left her ‘quite anxious’.

The 50-year-old former Spice Girl and her 48-year-old footballer star husband have been in a relationship since 1997 and tied-the-knot in 1999 before welcoming four children together. And their romance has faced triumphs and trials over the years – while their star power has continued to rise and rise.

Last year, the couple allowed cameras into their homes to document the lives they share with children Brooklyn, 25, Romeo, 21, Cruz, 19, and daughter Harper Seven, 12. The footage was edited together to create a four part docuseries simply titled Beckham – which was streamed via Netflix to a lukewarm critical reception.

Now Vicky – who hosted a lavish birthday party in London on Saturday night to commemorate her landmark 50th year – has revealed she and Dave couldn’t bring themselves to watch the last part of the series until after it was available to stream last October. Reflecting on the moment she decided to watch it, Victoria explained she and David were on a flight and were left feeling “proud” of their own lives.

She told Sunday Times Style: “It was on a flight to Miami that we finally watched it. David suggested we get a bottle of wine. It was a nice moment — we both felt really proud. I don’t get nervous when I’m playing myself but it was certainly a real process. Going over all that stuff again can be … There are also things that are hard to remember. Like, Fisher [Stevens, the series’ director] would bring up a goal that David scored 25 years ago, and that can make you quite anxious.”

The former singer also hinted that she was surprised to see how much more relaxed she has become as the years had added up and her fame has increased. She said: “I looked at some pictures of myself recently and was really struck by how happy I looked. In the past I’ve always looked at those red carpet pictures of me and seen a woman who looks nervous and insecure. Everyone else saw a woman who looked grumpy and stern — I suppose that’s how I got the reputation of being such a miserable cow.”

The Beckham’s documentary series may have gone down well with many fans, but was slammed by some critics as an obvious and ‘sanitised PR exercise’ which refused to confront any of the alleged scandals that have hit the family in the past. David’s former assistant, 46-year-old Rebecca Loos, slammed the show for only briefly approaching the fact they had allegedly had an affair together.

She blasted father-of-four David for pulling the affair back into the spotlight through the show – only to then gloss over it and refuse to explicitly discuss it. Appearing on Good Morning Britain last year, Rebecca seethed: “I had left it all behind me, I’d much rather not be here and talk about this again. I had moved on with my life.

“But the angle bothered me, how he had played the narrative and how mis-leading it is – and how it made me look the bad person. Of course I am also guilty, it’s not all him, but it was both of us. He’s not denied it, he’s never denied it. He said that my claims are ‘ludicrous’ – ludicrous is not denying it, ludicrous can be the truth. Ludicrous is a term used by lawyers to give to their clients to deflect attention. He’s never denied it.”

Offering a sunbeam of sympathy to Vicky, Rebecca added: “Victoria was honest, she said there was a gap in their marriage. The documentary was very rehearsed, but she came across well.” But she added: “By David not acknowledging responsibly, he is giving a message that it is OK to behave like this. I think that is the wrong message to give – my message is that you make mistakes, own up to them and move on. He says he is happily married, but there are many men who are happily married and have affairs.”
