Fans and Timothée Chalamet are tired of unnecessary questions surrounding Paul and Chani’s romance.
Starring alongside each other in the sci-fi action drama Dune, Timothee Chalamet, and Zendaya have become one of the hottest pair in Hollywood. Despite their undeniable chemistry on screen, both have been adamant about their platonic friendship off-camera, which has not stopped people from speculating.
With the sequel further set to explore their characters’ romance as Paul Atreides and Chani, the attention has only intensified, leading to uncomfortable moments for both actors during promotional interviews for Dune: Part 2. And the relentless questioning has now left the Dune star along with fans frustrated.
Timothee Chalamet Once Again Discusses the Challenges of Romantic Scenes with Zendaya
Timothee Chalamet has admitted that his friendship with the Dune co-star has added an element of awkwardness to filming romantic scenes. However, both Zendaya and Chalamet have also emphasized that it’s part of their job as actors. “It’s not weird in the scope of the movie,” Chalamet told Entertainment Tonight in an interview before adding, “It’s just the strangest part of the job.”
Despite that, such questions just keep coming back, leading to not only the Wonka star but also his fans’ frustration. Chalamet was once again asked the same thing in an interview with Hits Radio. Joining his Dune: Part Two co-star Austin Butler, the 28-year-old actor was asked if it was “easier or harder” to have a relationship with a friend on-screen.
Timothee Chalamet, as usual, explained that it was something that the story required them to do. “There’s no good answer for that—And maybe in some ways, because we are good friends, maybe it was less weird,” he said, explaining that it’s the nature of their job.

The recurring line of questions surrounding Timothee Chalamet and Zendaya’s on-screen romance as Paul Atreides and Chani has left fans frustrated. And they have taken to X (Twitter) to voice their discontent with the “stupid” questions, instead of asking actors about their craft and the project.

Many fans shared their issues with TV personalities and social media influencers conducting these interviews without any prior experience. They argued how these interviewers prioritize sensationalism, prominently focusing on generating attention-grabbing soundbites or “craic,” rather than having any significant queries about the film.

this is the fourth clip i’ve seen in a week where someone is asking a stupid question to people who really care about their craft and the project. fans who care about these actors and their work want to hear about THAT, not whatever soundbite or clip they are trying to get

There are so many people so hungry for these opportunities they’ll never get and then you’ve got random personalities doing massive interviews for the craic

If they are so set on not using a qualified journalist it should be a super fan who would be enthusiastic about the project and ask relevant questions.

I am so tired of interviews etc getting wasted on unqualified tiktokers , when there are professionals out there, who could get some refreshing insights out of those interviews, but barely get any chances (if any at all).

Furthermore, others also raised concerns about interviewers lacking genuine interest in the actors’ work, arguing that they hardly asked any relevant questions about the project. And they are suggesting that even a passionate fan of the movie or show could utilize these interviews more effectively.
Dune: Part Two is set to release on March 1, 2024.
