“If you didn’t like Godzilla vs Kong..you’ll like this one”: A Modest $135 Million Budget Will Not Stop Godzilla x Kong as the Movie Gets Thrilling Positive Reviews

‘Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire’ has seemingly proven that movies don’t always need to have massive budgets to be masterpieces!

"If you didn't like Godzilla vs Kong..you'll like this one": A Modest $135 Million Budget Will Not Stop Godzilla x Kong as the Movie Gets Thrilling Positive Reviews

The world of Kaiju will soon be earning its newest addition in the form of Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire, and this one seems to be much better than many fans’ expectations. While 2023’s Godzilla Minus One may have set the standards high for the Kaiju fans despite not being a MonsterVerse film itself, the soon-to-be-released movie might as well surpass those standards too.
Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire (2024)Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire (2024).
This comes after the early screening reviews for the film were released by the viewers, which are nothing short of epically thrilling; enough to further hype all those MonsterVerse fans. Adding to this is the stunning fact that even though the film was made on a modest $135 million, its presumed success doesn’t seem to be holding back the same way as the creators did on the budget!

Meager Budgets Can Make Masterpieces Too, says Godzilla x Kong

The newest addition to the MonsterVerse, The New Empire is already leaving fans stunned with its early screenings and the critical reviews that followed, despite still having over two days before finally hitting the big screens.

A sequel to 2021’s Godzilla vs Kong, this movie is seemingly all set to surpass everyone’s expectations with early reviews that make it evident that it’s better than its predecessor.
The New Empire will seemingly defy all odds despite its meager budget. The New Empire will seemingly defy all odds despite its meager budget.
For one, following the film’s early screenings on the 26th of March, 2024, screenwriter and senior film critic James Preston Poole took to his X handle (@JamesPPoole) to share his reviews on the masterpiece.

And his review calling The New Empire a “heater” truly has fans getting all giddy to receive the masterpiece when it hits the theatres on the 29th of March, 2024.

As shared by Poole, the upcoming film directed by Adam Wingard is not only “the strongest of the MonsterVerse” by far, but is also “a complete blast that gives you exactly what you came for and then some.” Read his entire review below:

GODZILLA x KONG: THE NEW EMPIRE is a heater. By far the strongest of the Monsterverse, the Kaiju action and characterization of our monsters takes center stage.

A complete blast that gives you exactly what you came for and then some. I’m over the moon. pic.twitter.com/dbzfwIYvqz

What’s more, is that the soon-to-be-released masterpiece was made on a very modest budget, i.e. only a modest $135 million, making it the cheapest installment from the MonsterVerse to date (as per Deadline).

But despite having such a critically low budget, Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire seemingly doesn’t hold back on giving the MonsterVerse fans the experience of a lifetime as it sets the stage for something so great that fans can’t wait for the film anymore.

Fans’ Early Reviews of Godzilla x Kong Are Truly Legendary

While James Preston Poole’s early review of The New Empire is enough to delight and pump the fans already looking forward to encountering something truly epic with the movie, Christina Molina’s review further adds a cherry on the top.

Calling it “truly a fun movie” with “awesome” action scenes, Molina took to his X handle @DirectedByCJ to share one last comment that would remove all of the doubts about the upcoming film not being able to serve to fans’ expectations. He wrote:
“If you didn’t like Godzilla vs Kong (like me) I can guarantee you’ll like this one!”

Adding to these are the reviews from all the other MonsterVerse fans who got to experience the early screenings of the movie, all of which point that the film would be nothing short of legendary. Like these, for instance:

Got an early screening for #GodzillaxKongTheNewEmpire and it was truly a fun movie. The action scenes are awesome, especially the final act of the movie where it goes all out. If you didn’t like Godzilla vs Kong (like me) I can guarantee you’ll like this one! pic.twitter.com/t7Cp2vYx2e

The Monsterverse does not need fixing. Godzilla X Kong: The New Empire delivers on big action and monster fights. It’s not without problems, but this is a hell of a fun time at the movies. #GodzillaXKong pic.twitter.com/guY8wTndth

Godzilla X Kong is pure spectacle of the highest order.

Adam Wingard completely understood the assignment and knew EXACTLY what audiences wanted. The action, the colors, the score, it’s everything I wanted from a Monsterverse film.

See it on the biggest screen possible because… pic.twitter.com/25uq9ec6uC

Thankyou @Kakuchopurei for #GodzillaXKong premiere! Great visuals & jaw dropping fight scenes! Their tagteam really brought new meaning to the word MonsterVerse! However, storyline is a bit straight forward & some might not enjoy it but for me it was pure entertainment! 7.5/10 pic.twitter.com/6IwRt3cabs

#GodzillaxKongTheNewEmpire was nothing short of fun and entertaining. They set up the #GodzillaXKong team up perfectly. Awesome elements and special effects and some moments felt very much like Planet of the Apes (you’ll know when you see it) 😉 pic.twitter.com/EOCzOPgBjS

#GodzillaXKong IS A TITAN-SIZED WIN!! Full of vibrant colorful visuals, SEVERAL action-fueled sequences, but most importantly, a ton of heart. While Godzilla is given his moments, Kong & Suko stole the show. It’s not without its flaws, but when a movie is this fun, who cares! pic.twitter.com/5rPv6PreBp
