“I need to save that money for Dune”: Denis Villeneuve’s Superfan Eyes to Break His Previous Record With Dune 2 After Surpassing Marvel Fan’s Avengers: Endgame Achievement

If you are a moviegoer, ask yourself, are you a die-hard fan? Still, it would never be easy to get close to two insane records by two fans who are in their own battle of records. After a Marvel fan held the Guinness World Record for watching a movie most times, another broke the previous record with Dune: Part One, eying to rise above his own record in the sequel.

Timothée Chalamet’s Dune: Part Two has marveled at the box office while embracing the critical accolades at the same time. It has to be a Denis Villeneuve masterpiece. Now, a fan broke the Guinness World Record, surpassing the fan who watched Avengers: Endgame 196 times.

It’s wild. Mac J, a Denis Villeneuve fan, has watched Dune: Part One 200 times and is trying to surpass his previous records. The fan has watched the Dune: Part Two 14 times in IMAX and is dead set on continuing his streak. “It’s been so confusing. I don’t know why it’s getting so much traction,” he told Inverse. While other fans are asking him to get the blue mark on X, he intends to save money for his goal. “People have been telling me to get Twitter Blue, but I need to save that money for Dune.”

Mac J watched Dune: Part One about 20 times in the theaters while streaming the movie over 200 times.
“I used to keep a tally sheet of when I would rewatch, but I stopped at 100 and that was in 2022… I didn’t have the busiest social life in high school and I would spend most of my time reading or studying. It often became something I would just put on in the background or just sit down and watch. I have the script memorized and used to write it out in school when I got bored.”
Speaking of the immaculate experience of watching it on IMAX, he adds, “It needs to be seen in IMAX. I watched it in standard, and it wasn’t the same at all. I can’t imagine watching it in streaming.” He is planning on catching a 70mm IMAX showing as well.

A Marvel Fan Claimed Guinness World Record For Watching Avengers: Endgame

Ramiro Alanis holds the Guinness World Record for the most cinema productions attended of the same film as he completed his streak of watching Avengers: Endgame 191 times. “I’m Officially Amazing!!!” he posted on X after his record. The Florida native’s inspiration was another Marvel fan, YouTuber NemRaps, who watched Avengers: Infinity War 103 times.
“I had bought tickets to watch it five times on the opening weekend so I wouldn’t miss a thing. Then, I started going every single day, posting my rounds or views because I really love the film. After seeing how Endgame was shattering records and making history, I decided to do it too,” he told he told CNN (via EW).
But such tremendous dedication also has a price to pay. It is not just for the movie tickets, Alanis had to give up his social life to achieve his dream.
“The most difficult part about this attempt was giving up my social life with my family, the gym (I lost 16 pounds of muscle), and managing my work hours and screening times at the theaters,” he said (via, Guinness World Record).
But he was thankful for the support from his family and friends, theater support staff, and online fans who applauded his streak.

Dune: Part Two is currently showing in theaters.

Avengers: Endgame can be streamed on Disney+.
