Barbie has left the building.

While many fashion fans expected Margot Robbie to save her best Barbie recreation for last, she walked the Oscars 2024 red carpet in a decidedly anti-pink look on Sunday, with the Australian beauty wearing a shimmering black chainmail gown that got fans talking.

The actress, 33, who plays the iconic Mattel doll in Greta Gerwig’s hit 2023 movie, sparkled in a strapless black Versace fall/winter 2024 dress featuring gathered detail at the waist — and there was nary a hint of pink to be seen.

Robbie wore her blond hair down in a straight style, showing off a chunky gold bracelet accented with diamonds by Fred Leighton.

Fans weighed in on a post from Check the Tag’s Instagram account, with many wondering if Robbie was protesting her best actress Oscars snub.

“I think this is dress is a protest againts the Academy … all black, no accesories, hair and make up very neutral. ⚡️” one fan wrote.

“Black because she was snubbed. Take a stand girlllll! Don’t give them what they want!” another Instagram user added.

“she’s always beautiful. but is this a protest dress for not getting the best actress nomination?😂” a third added.

One even decried, “Barbie is in grief for her non-nomination.”

The “Babylon” actress has put her own spin on a number of Barbie’s famous looks over the past year, ranging from the OG doll’s striped 1950s swimsuit to a neon pink minidress as seen on 1992’s Earring Magic Barbie.

While the “Barbie” press tour was interrupted by the SAG-AFTRA strike, Robbie and her stylist, Andrew Makamal, teamed up for a coffee table book called “Barbie: World Tour,” out March 19. The tome documents some of the never-before-seen outfits created for the Australian beauty.

Her black Oscars look is a stark contrast to her pink “Barbie” press tour looks.
And although Robbie might have been snubbed for a best actress Oscar this year, “Barbie” — which she co-produced with husband Tom Ackerley — is still up for a number of Academy Awards, including best picture, costume design, production design and writing.

Ryan Gosling, who plays Ken in the film, is also up for best actor in a supporting role, and America Ferrera was nominated for best actress in a supporting role, while “I’m Just Ken” and “What Was I Made For” are both up for best original song.

As for the afterparties, our fingers are crossed for one more Barbie look.
