Eiza Gonzalez was roasted online after she claimed she has missed out on film roles due to being ‘too pretty.’

The actress, 34, indicated that her good looks have harmed her career, though many fans seemed to think the lackluster opportunities had more to do with her talent.

In a new interview with InStyle Eiza said: ‘I remember being [told for] so many projects, “She’s too pretty for the role. She’s too hot for the role.” Then I’d just be like, What is Margot Robbie? She’s the hottest, most beautiful woman I’ve ever seen in my life!’

The Mexican star added that Latinas are held to a different standard, and admitted she had an ‘identity crisis for a very long time’ and even considered shaving her head in a bid to boost her prospects.

Following the interview, many took to social media to express their surprised reactions, with one commentator writing on Twitter: ‘She can’t act her way out of a paper sack!’

‘Naw she just stinks at acting,’ another commentator added.

‘Damn, just like act better…’ someone else wrote.

‘I have another idea why she didn’t get roles,’ another person chimed in.

A number of comments brought up the fact that Margot Robbie and Scarlett Johansson’s careers seemed to be thriving, despite their good looks.

‘Yeah I’m sure that’s the reason,’ read another comment.

Someone else wrote: ‘Glad she thinks so much about herself.’

Many had trouble believing that was the reason for her missing out on roles: ‘That probably never happened.’

Yet another commentator called the actress ‘vain’ while someone else pointed out that she also probably ‘got a bunch of roles because she’s pretty’, not in spite of it.

In the interview Eiza spoke about how she considered shaving her head.

‘I was like, “Do I shave my head? Do I make myself less attractive? Do I make myself more attractive? Do I not dress super-hot or do I cover myself all the time?”‘

Meanwhile, Eiza previously called for greater representation for Latinas in the fashion and beauty industry, after she appeared in a campaign for Louis Vuitton.

The actress – who was born in Mexico City – told Vogue: ‘I grew up watching all these beauty campaigns in the 90s and I wouldn’t see a lot of Mexican women in them, especially in these large-scale brands.

‘It was always kind of sold to me that I had to be a specific style of woman to be it, and the fact that girls in Mexico who are brown and Latina like me will see a campaign like this and recognise themselves in it with the scale of the brand makes me so honoured and happy.

‘It’s normalising an image for people and making people feel included and seen.’

She posed for the Spring 2024 cover of InStyle this month. The brunette beauty looked stunning in an all grey ensemble.

She opted for a skin tight tank top that flaunted her toned figure with trendy flowing pants. Her snake shaped diamond necklace acted as a shining statement piece. And she added natural makeup with a bold red lip that made her pout pop.

During her interview she touched on her love life. And Eiza admitted that after being cheated on, she now only dates men who have been in therapy.

The actress shared that when she was a teen idol, she learned that her boyfriend had recorded an intimate video with another girl. She claims that she learned of his infidelity from ‘the cover of a magazine,’ just like everyone else.

But – it did not leave her in shambles. She decided to take the unfortunate situation and make something positive out of it. Since, she found her upmost success.

The Mexico City native reflected on the scandal saying she coped with a mix of partying and crying as a young actress in Los Angeles. So, she worked tirelessly to distract herself from the failed relationship with her career.

While distraught and emotional she revealed that her mother pushed her and made moves as she healed. When she updated her IMDB page and got a manager in the United States, the jobs started rolling in.

Eiza has a number of projects in the pipeline, including a role in one episode of the new prime series Mr. & Mrs. Smith.

She is also in three episodes of 3 Body Problem, as well as The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare, Ash, La Maquina, Fountain of Youth and an untitled Guy Ritchie project.

Eiza became a household name after starring in the Argentine series Suena conmigo, and also as Santanico Pandemonium in From Dusk till Dawn: The Series developed by Robert Rodriguez, Baby Driver and Alita: Battle Angel.
