Disheartening Update on Aaron Taylor-Johnson’s Casting as Next James Bond Comes Out

Aaron Taylor-Johnson might not be James Bond but there’s still light at the end of the tunnel.

Aaron Taylor-Johnson has been long rumored as the next James Bond ever since Daniel Craig said goodbye to the famed role. Not only has he been a popular fan choice for the role but the actor would certainly make a great 007 spy given his English heritage and prowess in the action genre.

Up until some hours ago, rumors were flying around that the actor had reportedly been offered the role instead of other popular contenders like Henry Cavill or Idris Elba. Yet if the recent update is true, it would be pretty disheartening news for Johnson’s fans and his career.

Aaron Taylor-Johnson To Play James Bond?

The James Bond franchise is among the most revered and fan-followed franchises of all time. Since its inception, the titular role of the British spy has been taken up by many legendary actors, making the movies no less than cult classics.

However, the seat for formidable spy has been lying vacant for a while now, and Avengers star Aaron Taylor-Johnson is one of the many rumored to play the role next. Just on March 18, The Sun reported that a source close to them stated,
“Bond is Aaron’s job, should he wish to accept it. The formal offer is on the table and they are waiting to hear back. As far as Eon is concerned, Aaron is going to sign his contract in the coming days and they can start preparing for the big announcement.”

Although no formal announcement has been made, the news appears to somewhat align with what Johnson stated to Esquire about the role, suggesting that it might be the truth.
“It’s not really for me to say anything. I just focus on the things I can have in my hands right now. What’s in front of me right now.”

He ambiguously added without straight-up denying the rumors. However, while these news, theories, and rumors are exciting enough if the recent disheartening update is true, Aaron Taylor-Johnson might not be the next James Bond.

Aaron Taylor-Johnson Hasn’t Been Offered James Bond Role

Back in 2022, it was revealed that the production for the next reinvented James Bond film would begin in two years (via Deadline). But till now neither is there any news related to what this reinvented 007 would be nor the casting for the popular fictional spy has been revealed.

While much to the delight of his fans, Aaron Taylor-Johnson was rumored to have been offered the role. Yet E! News recently reported that no such offer to the Bullet Train star has been made as per a knowledgeable source close to the news site.

Although Johnson hasn’t been offered the role, the source added that it does not mean he would turn down such an amazing opportunity. While the anticipation regarding the casting of the celebrated fictional hero keeps building up, even if Johnson does become James Bond, it will take quite some time for such a movie to come out.

Meanwhile, the James Bond franchise can either be streamed on Hulu or Amazon Prime.
