"Another Oscar loading": Christopher Nolan is Already Writing His Next Film Only a Day After His First Oscar Win for Oppenheimer

Christopher Nolan has already unlocked a big achievement in his career by winning his first Academy Award on Sunday night. By winning his award in the Best Director category for his work in Oppenheimer (2023), he has solidified his position in the filmmaking world yet again. Given this significant achievement, many would think that he might just be busy celebrating the feat but he seems already back in action.

According to a recent report, Nolan seems to have indulged himself in a new project, which is creating quite a buzz on the Internet, given that it’s only been a day after his first Oscar win.

Christopher Nolan is Reportedly Working on a New Project

The 53-year-old filmmaker is already a renowned personality in the cinematic world due to his impeccable projects such as Memento, The Dark Knight trilogy, and Inception. Given that his projects have been well-acclaimed by critics and viewers, he was yet to be officially recognized by the Academy, which eventually happened with his new Oscar win for Oppenheimer

However, it seems like he is not planning for a break as Puck News reported that Christopher Nolan has already started writing his next project. While this is yet to be confirmed, the Tenet director has already revealed his vision for his next project last year.

In an interview with Yahoo Entertainment, he was asked whether he would like to move on from dark subject (referring to Oppenheimer) to some light rom-com project. He responded,
“I definitely– part of me wants to leave the story behind. I mean, you know, it’s a great privilege to be able to talk about a film that you’ve made that’s now going into the home and on 4k and Blu-ray and all the rest. It’s great to be able to sit here and talk to you about the success of the movie. That’s a huge privilege.”
“But the subject matter is very dark. It’s nihilistic. And, yeah, there’s part of me that’s quite keen to move on and maybe do something, you know, not quite as bleak.”
While this project went him back to pursue darker projects, his pre-Oscars plans may change after the Cillian Murphy-led project swept a major win this Sunday night. However, this report has created quite a buzz online, getting overwhelmingly positive reactions from the fans.

While fans are already excited for his next Oscars, winning his first meant “world to him” as he was up against Justine Triet (Anatomy of a Fall), Yorgos Lanthimos (Poor Things), Jonathan Glazer (The Zone of Interest), and Martin Scorsese (Killers of the Flower Moon).

Overall, Oppenheimer brought 7 wins at the 96th Academy Awards. Apart from Nolan, Murphy won the Best Actor Award whereas his co-star, Robert Downey Jr. won in the Best Supporting Actor category at the Oscars. It also nabbed honors in the Best Editing, Scoring, and Cinematography category out of 13 nominations.
